Burke's trade freeze is coming up soon. Dont see any moves on the horizon

This is depressing to watch. Wilson is going to be fired and Burke has completely blew it.

I honestly don't know what to say anymore, leafs are just horrible. We have no hope for the next 5 years. No draft picks or nothing for the next 2-3 years.. I'm flat out tired of the leafs.

Boston Bruins will be a sick team for the next decade.
how's that for an insult?
oh, wait, if the Leafs lose to the Bruins tomorrow, Boston gets x10000 bonus points. they go up in the standings and the Leafs get mired deeper in the lottery.

this is absolutely amazing to witness. honestly, its one of the most inept trades in NHL history. not to totally revisit it, but why would Burke outbid himself for a player that the Bruins couldn't afford to keep? they just traded away Sturm for nothing spectacular. Betting you that they could have picked up Kessel with zero 1st round picks

The Leafs are just an inept organization. They just do things consistently that make you scratch your head. When they could outspend anyone, it was find cause they could mask mistakes but even then they would make mistakes. Jarret Stoll would have been a nice piece to have, what did we do, screw it up with a fax machine issue. In a cap world, what do we do, we go overpay for Jeff Finger, trade away good young assets for mediocre players. Not all of this is on Burke obviously but the Kessel trade is one that just adds on to the long pile of mistakes over the years.

Wilson has lost the team, changing lines every two minutes. I still think Burke can do a solid job but he's got to change gears and stop trying to protect the Kessel trade by making more mistakes and acting like July 1st is our draft.

The forwards suck, but hes done a great job with the goalies and the defenseman. Hockeyfutures and draft blogs have all praised the Leafs depth there. The goalies especially look very promising. He had a 6 year deal so Im not sure why he made the move for Kessel. I hope he rebuilds next year with some good forward prospects (unlikely to happen I know.)

Burke's only option is to break up a pretty good defensive group. Wayyyyyy too much money invested in defense. Even then, who is going to show much interest in anyone except for Shenn?

It's like he took the blueprint he had in Anaheim, but forgot to add the five 25-goal scorers his team had when they won the cup.

Great, Kadri's been dropped to the fourth line now. Wilson is going to ruin this kid. You're stuck looking for a top center, he has potential to be a top line or second line center and we just keep moving him all over the place. Leave the kid on the top or second line and let him play through the mistakes. We're not winning games anyways, let the kid develop. Wilson jerking him around could kill him.

Beaucheman is horrible. you could only trade to a COMPLETELY inept team.
Kaberle looks horrible. If you traded him, he would net you 1-2 2nd round picks. he's always been an extremely overrated player.
Lebda's a 7th defenseman.
Kommisarek is a 6th defenseman getting paid 1st D money.
Phaneuf can't hit or score anymore. He's getting paid franchise player money when he'd be a 3rd or 4th D on any other team.

As far as the cap hits goes; Beaucheman and Lebda are expiring next year, while Kabrle's contract is expiring this year.

Long term, too much money is tied up between Komisarek and Phaneuf.

It was funny seeing phaneuf try to go back in time to vintage phaneuf, but now he has such a hard time trying to knock people over, and of course he isn't aware enough that he is just one of the many who lost his swagger after joining the organization.

Man you know what sucks? The Leafs are going to give up a top 5 pick this year and Burke is going to be so pissed off he ll make a bunch of moves and the Leafs will end up with 9/10th pick next year. We all know that its going to happen.

This is so true, we're finally gonna be in a position to get back our top pick in 2012 but by then Burke will have made a few moves to get us back in the playoffs but not really on the path to being an upper echelon team.

He's got to do whatever he can without including any picks to get a front line center to play with Kessel. The second he made the move on Kessel he needed to focus on getting a center to play with him.

If they can't find one, Wislon needs to stop jerking Kadri around the lineup, let him play through his mistakes and leave him at center on the first line.
