Kaberle for Colborne, Bruins 1st and a cond pick. Pg2

The potential of the Maple Leafs trading defenceman Tomas Kaberle to the Bruins has apparently taken another step.

Sportsnet, citing sources, is reporting that Kaberle has granted the Leafs permission to speak to only one team – that being the Bruins – regarding a potential trade.

http://www.thestar.com/sports/hockey/nh ... =1#article

Apparently, Burke has confirmed that is he talking about a possible trade with Boston on a Boston Radio station and Cam Neely who is a executive with Boston reported that the team is close to something. The rumoured trade is also not the 1st round pick.

And if this is true.. I highly doubt Tyler Seguin would be involved(dream come true), but hopefully Toronto can somehow snatch there 2nd round draft pick of 2010, Jared Knight and another player Boston that would match Kaberle's salary or something.

Does Boston get an injury exemption with Savard out indefinitely?

Perhaps the salaries wouldn't have to match...

What's the word on this Jared Knight guy?

Which other young talents might the Bruins be willing to part with?

Well apparently some people are saying he's an steal as he was drafted 2nd round in the '10 and played for the London Knights that year. I don't really know much about him though, but I've heard he has speed along with offensive skill. Knight is still currently in the OHL playing for the London Knights(same team Kadri played for and played for again the year after he was drafted). So far, he also has 22 goals 32 assists in 53 games with the London Knights. Last year, he played 63 games and ended up with 57 points with 36 goals and 21 assists.

I highly doubt they will part ways with Seguin though and give up another young talent if they choose to trade away Knight to the Leafs. Other than that, I don't know much about what other young talent Boston has.

I would guess that unless Boston and kaberle are negotiating a contract extension, hence the delay in the trade, that Toronto would be, at best, bosons first round pick back. So a late first rounder. Nothing more.

But if Kaberle is willing to talk contract extension, then it's game on.

Kaberle is quoted this morning saying Boston is on his list of teams to waive his NTC. So not a rumour.

I wouldn't want Jared Knight in a package for Kaberle if he's the main prospect coming back. I saw him play several times with London last year, and he isn't the impact prospect you want in a Kaberle trade. If we're getting a prospect, I want Colbourne coming back at the very least. I'd even dangle Philly's first and try to get our first back.

Blake Wheeler/Zach Hamill/Boston First for Kaberle/Mid Level Prospect (not ideal, but I could see it happening)

Blake Wheeler/Tor First for Kaberle/Philly First (this is a dream)

Stuart/Joe Cobourne/+ for Kaberle/+

Just throwing some ideas out there, but if a trade goes down with Boston, expect any of the above to come back

I thought we'd absolutely have to get our pick back in any trade we do with boston. That atleast has to main focus imo. The return I would like to see is Our pick, their pick, and a prospect for Kaberle + pick.(later rounds)

That's what I was gonna say. No way in hell Pete Chia is as dumb as Burke, as to trade a potential top pick in the division.

The big rumor, sadly for Leaf fans if true, is Stuart + Boston's 1st for Kaberle. Ouch.

Kaberle is 32 and a UFA at the end of the season. A return like that isn't even remotely possible. I'm sensing something like Colborne/Caron/BOS 1st (contingent on Kaberle re-signing, maybe a 3rd if he doesn't?) for pink cheeks/Philly 3rd. I'm not that high on Hamill, but wouldn't mind Wheeler. I mean getting guys like Colborne and/or Wheeler would certainly change the dynamic of our forward group. The concerns with Colborne are that he doesn't use his size enough, but his playmaking makes him a pretty darn good prospect. I'll take the chance on him for sure at this point. Getting bigger up front is definitely something that can be achieved here and I do like adding Jordan Caron if possible as well.

Where did you hear that? Burke was recently spotted watching Providence so I'd assume there's a reason for that, and here's the latest from Dreger:

Some people on Twitter that are legit have been bouncing it around. There's a few different scenarios for Kaberle to Boston, but none of them involve Wheeler or TO's 1st.

Do you mind sharing these legit Twitter sources? You've been mentioning them on a few occasions now and I'd like to see how accurate they end up being regarding trade talks and Kaberle in particular.

Dallas_Dave is one of them.

He hasn't been naming names specifically on whose getting moved, but he's broken a ton of deals a day or two before they've actually happened. He broke Paul Mara back to Montreal last night too.

Dallas_Dave is wrong 10x before he's right once. Hardly consider him a legit source.

Most are.

MacKenzie and Dreger always message him asking if he's heard anything, I'll take that over anything Eklund spews out. Only reason why the TSN guys are always right is because they only report it when it's basically done. Dave reports the talks that actually are going on, whether it happens or not.

I'm not twitter savvy at all, but how would you know Mckenzie/Dreger are messaging him these things? I see him tagging those guys in tweets, but that doesn't mean he's replying to them does it? And to be honest I don't really care, having read HFBoards for a while I've seen quite a few occasions where this guy has been way off, so I don't see a difference between this guy and any of the other bogus out there.

Dallas Dave is about as legit as Eklund, let's please not discuss anything from either...it's not exactly worthwhile.

Burke has always said that if a guy waives his no trade clause he wants atleast 5 teams. I doubt he would allow Kaberle to say that he would only go to one team.
