Wanted Gaylenchuck or Lindholm or whatever forward. Did not want a D man that bad

Oh well

I've read good things about Reilly. Some scouts compared him to Doughty. :o

I am pretty surprised the Leafs passed on Filip Forsberg;

Don't love the Riley pick, but its Burke I am sure he will have some condescending way of explaining exactly why he took him.

The team needed a forward badly though.

Damn Right!
A talented skilled forward would have been the ticket, its not like the Leafs are short blueliners.

Filip Forsberg's fall is either going to make a bunch of GM's look brilliant or incredibly stupid.

Burke passing on him;
I get it,
Burke is Burke and he convinced himself that he needed another one dimensional young player, and Riley is pretty good right now,

However the Pens moving Staal to end up with 8 and have Forsberg fall into their laps to then take Derrick F'n Pouliot?

That is going to the move folks remember in a few years.

Just got home and see the Staal deal, can't believe Burke didn't get in on that.

Toronto should try to pick up a pick here soon and get Teravainen or Malcolm Subban.

Western Canadian with an Irish name. There was no way Burke was passing this up.

Burke says this guy was rated number one overall on the Leafs list and had they had the number 1 pick they would have selected him.

Burke needs to shut up and stop saying stuff like this. These are the things that bite you in the ass Burkie. Enough with the rhetoric, just go out, do your job and build a team that can compete and contend.

Burke said even if he had the first overall pick he would have chosen this guy. What a load of shyte. He's just trying to snow the press as always.

Plain and simple it's just time for this egotistical jackass to go. It's just an utter embarrassment every time he opens his mouth. We need to get a respected GM in here to right this ship. Burke is aimless, conceited, and we still don't have an effen goalie. Remember when we had people like Ken Dryden involved with this team? Seems like a completely different team now. Constant sniping and b.s. fights with everyone in the media all the time, lack of success, tons of backfiring moves.

I can believe he didn't get in on that. Why trade for a rental that won't resign? He likely had a list of teams and Toronto wasn't on there. He's a UFA soon and unless we could extend him would have been ripped off (it would have cost us the 5th pick plus other picks and prospects). It would have been a great move if he signed though.

I do agree however with moving up to take Subban (which didn't happen).

Burke sucks man, can't wait for him to be gone once we miss the playoffs again. When the hell are we going to get a center. Passing on a big skilled center like Mikhail Grigorenko because he is Russian is a joke. With Grigs and Galchenyuk in our division it will only add more salt to our wounds. Get this EGO GM out of here. Would have picked Rielly 1st overall? Please

No need to get upset over the pick. Sure, they could've used a forward over another blueliner. I would've also taken Forsberg. However, this kid is going to be a stud. He's got some of the best upside in the draft. It's not like we passed up on Forsberg and reached big time for Reilly, he would've gone soon after. I honestly thought that Reinhart was going to be a Leaf, but he was already taken.

On a side note, when Reilly tore his ACL, he finished out his shift. That's exactly the attitude this team needs.

Not that I know a ton about these guys, but I love the look of this pick. He looks like a DYNAMIC offensive talent for a defense-man, holy sh*t at those skating clips and I love hearing things like a player sees the ice beautifully and has the ability to control a game in the future.

My gut feeling is Murray will end up being the 5th or 6th most dynamic D man in this draft when it's said and done and CBJ will once again have a drafting egg on its face. It seems like his best attribute is playing more mature than everyone, while he went ahead of a lot of Dmen with more dynamic size, speed or skill. I dunno how I'd feel about that as a CBJ with IMO a guy with star forward written all over him in Galchenyuk on the table.
