Since we'll be looking forward to the draft, I'd like to encourage everyone to visit the NHL Draft thread we have. I'll often be updating rankings, player profiles, scouting reports and other items.

Wow, Angelo Esposito's draft stock has fallen a lot I see. A few months ago he was the consensus #1. If he's really expected to be picked around there I want the Leafs to target him.

Somebody will pick him before he gets to us. People were saying Frolik would fall last year and he got picked before he got to us as well.

The only way our draft position changes is if Colorado or Toronto win and I do not see that happening.

You can't argue with Brandon Sutter's genes.

McKeens has him ranked #8 as of 3.29.07

Sam Gagner is another Kyle Wellwood in the making ;)

Sam Gagner is offensively gifted, but he's far from ready in the NHL. I've had a first hand look at the guy during a game. Mind you, we were older than him (I'm not sure why he was playing)..and he looked out of place. He looked the same way in the World Juniors. It seems as if he struggles to adapt to new scenerios where he knows he's going to be overpowed. He didn't know what to do with the puck for Team Canada, and rushed things. I'm not sure if that's what you'd want in a player. He could change with some experience, and for his sake...I hope he does. I think it's a mental issue that needs to be resolved.

There's no way Gagner falls to #13 anyway...he is by all accounts a top 8 pick

Is there any chance JFJ would consider trading up in this draft?

After all, this draft is very weak so I wouldn't mind dishing out a 2nd or 3rd to do so.

That would be a good idea if we had a 2nd round pick to trade this year. :nonono:

It is official and we have the #13 pick. Chicago won the lottery and will now have the 1st overall pick. You should head over to the NHL Draft board if you want the full list.
