[Confession] For one night, I was a Sens fan

Post#1 » by Looogie » Sun May 6, 2007 6:45 am

Tonight, I did the impossible. I cheered on the Senators and was happy they advanced to the ECF.

It was nice to see a team from Ontario school a NJ team and send them packing on their home ice. Knowing that NJ cares more about the Devils than the Nets, put a smile on my face.

Please forgive my moment of weakness, but it was the closest thing to revenge I could feel after the Nets beat the Raps.

Goodbye NJ, nice to see you gone in 5.

That is no excuse to cheer for Ottawa. The only time I would ever cheer for Ottawa is if they play Buffalo. I have got over the Alfie incident and would not be happy if they won but would not care a great deal either.

I have to root for Buffalo to beat Ottawa, We can't have them going to the cup finals before us ;)

Then i want whoever wins in the west to beat Buffalo, then all will be right in the world of hockey ;)

Leafs miss the playoffs and the Sens win the EC and head to the finals. What a disaster... :(

What an ideal matchup, Buffalo vs. Ottawa. I hate Lindsay Ruff so much that I'm considering rooting for Ottawa.

I feel the same way about Ruff and is the reason I am cheering for Ottawa. I am starting to dislike Vanek as well because he complains a lot on the bench.

I predicted that Ottawa would win the cup, you can't root against that the way they're playing.
I picked Anaheim in pre season to win but I have a bet on Ottawa to beat Buffalo.
Therefore, Go sens go!..for this season.

if you think about...how can you have a rivalry where you win every playoff series?

I never saw the logic in this.

I can kinda see it (but it's still a stretch) if its Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver, but Ottawa or Montreal? No **** way. I fail to see how it makes sense on any level to cheer on a team who you despise the rest of the year.

I was actually cheering for Carolina last year just to spite all my friends who were all of a sudden huge Oilers fans.

Would you seriously feel something good if Ottawa won the Stanley Cup? Why? For the love of God why?

The Cup is "coming home to Canada" anyway, because half of every team, and most of their best players, are usually Canadian. So don't even try to say that.

Maybe you can convince me otherwise, but until then, I'm going to continue to think it's the stupidest theory in sports, and I'm disappointed in the huge amounts of Canadians (especially Leaf fans) who subscribe to it.
