What should we do? Your ideal offseason

Post what you believe we should do this offseason, starting from management, all the way to roster decisions. Who should we keep, who should we sign? What's your ideal offseason?
Please note, if you disagree with a particular move, explain why rather than using insults. If any discussion begins to get out of hand like the previous thread, it'll be locked as well.

-Deal Kubina for young forward and pick
-sign Hartnell
-sign Giguere
-attempt to move raycroft for anything, if not make him a backup
-resign Peca
-Trade Stajan plus our first round to move up in the draft

I agree about most of the above, especially with Giguere and Kubina. I've said it elsewhere before. Trading one of Kubina and McCabe is a must in order to accomplish anything this offseason. It'll completely allow the team to fill out their roster more effectively.

1) I want no part of Giguere... he's unathletic, slow, and relies heavily on the size of his equipment. A scarecrow in net could put up his numbers when you have Pronger, Neidermayer, Beauchemin, and Pahlsson (sp?) in front of you.
2) Kubina MUST go. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a fine player but this team (finally) has depth at defence and his contract is eating up the cap... he's not needed, and is a very expensive luxury.
3) We need a young, fast, scoring winger for the top line. I love Smyth, but he's neither young or fast, and he'll be very expensive. Nagy, Ryder, Horton, Kariya, Parise are all UFA's or RFA's and fit the bill.
4) 2nd/3rd line grinder: Leafs need a fast checker who is capable at both ends of the ice. Raffi Torres or Jeff Friesen could be had for cheap.
5) Will likely get burned for this, but hear me out: SIGN ED BELFOUR. 1yr deal for <$1M and you've got a veteran goaltender for basically nothing to split time/put pressure on Raycroft. I believe in Rayzor, just feel he needs a little fire under his *ss to keep him motivated. Eagle will do that perfectly. And people don't realize the kind of season he had for Florida this year... much better than most think.

Hmm so how did he put up consecutive season of .920 save % when neither of Pronger or Niedermayer were playing for the Ducks. He might be unathletic and slow but at the end of the day he gets the job done and has been doing so before Pronger or Niedermayer were ever on the team.
Giguere is miles better then Raycroft and would make the leafs a instant playoff team with his signing.

Giguere is a good goalie, don't get me wrong... I just wouldn't break the bank on a player like him because even in the seasons without Pronger/Neidermayer, the Ducks played an extremely defensive system under Babcock and that was a major factor for his success.
Also, I feel that the league's perception of his talent is overinflated due to the defensive style of his team making him look better than he is. Think Manny Legace of Detroit last year.
He'll command top dollar, and IMO, would be a let down on this current Leafs team.

Fire Ferguson, deal kubina for a young forward as said and thats our offseason. Ferguson is a hella crappy GM did nothing with this franchise wont to anything with any other.

The Wings defence that played in front of Legace was much better then anything Giguere had prior to Pronger and Niedermayer. Giguere is just simply a much better goalie then Legace and he has proved this over time. He wont get more then 5-5.5 million a year and Id definitely spend that on a legit goalie that would of put us in the playoffs last season if you substituted him with Raycroft.
I dont see how Giguere would be a let down, he makes big saves at big times while our current goalie is the opposite, lets in soft goals at the worst of times. This is why Kubina has to be moved to free up cap room for us to make our team better via signing a forward or going after a legit #1 tender.

Fire Ferguson..even though it won't happen
Get more youth FFS! Why did we sign Tucker? We need good prospects and to build through the draft.

I honestly don't see Kubina going anywhere, what teams out there that you can think of would want to take on his contract after the year he had with the Leafs?
We already know how JFJ works, he would sign some 4th or 5th defenceman at best and a 3rd or 4th line "scoring" option and then call it a day.

Wow trading Kubina would be a dream come true. With his salary gone, more cap to sign some useful talent. How about Smyth, Kariya or Gomez? Giguere would be incredible, and I don't think resigning Peca is a good idea as he is injury prone.
MOST important move: DEAL KUBINA...

My GamePlan
1.) FIND SUNDIN A SCORING WINGER
-This can be done many ways, via FA, trade or elsewhere. I'd go with the FA route and get the likes of Ryan Smyth and Alex Morozov out of Russia
2.) FIX THE LOGJAM AT DEFENCE
-That means a deal is in the making. I'm looking for a team in need of a number one defenceman.....look no further than the Islanders
TOR TRADES: Bryan McCabe
NYI TRADES: Trent Hunter, MA Bergeron and a second round pick
3.) Move up in the draft.
TOR Deals: #13 and their second round pick
FLA Deals: #10 overall
Selection: Angelo Esposito
4.) Find a suitable backup....preferably fairly cheap.
-The likes of Cujo, Thibault, Holmqvist or Esche
5.) RESIGN Colaiacovo and White and call it a day.
Roster
Sundin/Smyth/Steen(13 mill)
Tucker/Wellwood/Hunter(7 Mill)
Poni/Antropov/Morozov(6 Mil)
Kilger/Stajan/Deveraux(2.5 Mil)
Xtra: Pohl and Belak
Kaberle/Kubina (10 MIL)
Colaicovo/Gill (3 Mill)
Bergeron/Kronwall (2 MILL)
Xtra: White, Stralman
Raycroft/Cujo (3 MILL0n)
47.5 million roughly in salaries......give or take a couple million.
Thoughts?

How come you say find a winger for Sundin, and then have him playing Wing with Ryan Smyth at center?. Morozov wants apparently 3 million per, so id hope he gives you more then just a 3rd liner. Stajan should be your teams #3 center or else it should be Peca (no way I have Antropov playing center over those 2.)

Sorry, that was a typo.
The Second and Third Lines are interchangable.
I'm not resigning Peca....too injured, and Stajan just so happened to fit well there.
You're ragging on my line setups, and yest I've read anything dismissing or praising my FA/Trade pickups. Lines are Lines, they aren't set in stone, it's just a way I mixed the names up.
