I'm pretty sure i speak for all of us when i say we would all be pretty happy with Cujo back in the Blue and White mentoring Razor and even being the biggest wall he can be between those 2 glistening pipes. Well yesterday sportsnet reported that Cujo would like to return and that we are interested, its been floating around for a while, i think it's safe to say Cujo is going to be back. Do we agree?

Now supposing he does, what is the most us fans really expect outta the 40 year old vet. I know he can mentor Raycroft but how much of a difference do you think it'll have.....as for him starting i do not think he can man the hole for a 50 games while being productive, so what do you think the major upside is?

btw i'm expecting he'd be getting some sort of Vet Minimum (if their is one in hockey) (yes i'm a casual fan )

Calling Cujo a lock is really premature. I just heard on Talk640 that Toronto is speaking with Minnesota about a Kubina for Fernandez swap- that would be fantastic for Toronto- not so for Minny.

Fernandez for Kubina would be a dream trade for JFJ at this point.

A Fernandez/Kubina swap would be absolutely amazing but how likely is it? seems kinda like a pip dream to me but if it is being talked about you have to take it and run, i'd consider adding a bit more too

I'm sure it'll be great for Raycroft's confidence when as soon as he lets in his first soft goal of the year at the ACC the fans will start a "CUJO CUJO CUJO" chant...


I for one believe in Rayzor, and I think he's an elite goaltender when he shows the consistency and confidence that he has at times.

in his first year he showed signs of greatness, if he can just play consistant, i think he'd be fine but he lets in too many soft goals, Cujo can definatly help him out....hopefully

Hypothetically speaking, if we do end up with fernandez, does that make raycroft 2nd tier or expendable?

^ If we acquire Fernandez, I'd assume Maurice would play a dual goaltender system, which seems to be a growing trend in the NHL.

Montreal did it with Huet/Aebischer
Buffalo with Miller/Biron
Florida with Belfour/Auld
San Jose with Nabokov/Toskala

etc etc...

As much as I like Raycroft, I'd have full confidence in Fernandez, and don't think Raycroft would be a suitable fit in a two man rotation. At Raycroft's salary (2 mil), it'd be better to trade him for a prospect/draft pick, and sign a cheaper alternative, or bring Racine up from the Marlies.

However, I don't know what the market is like for backup goaltenders right now. If Joseph ends up costing us something like 1.3 mil, or Garon costs us 1.5 mil, I'd rather just keep Raycroft as a backup. I think if the trade went down, the market would determine Raycroft's future as a Leaf.

well scratch the Manny Bandwagon and possibly a Cujo return is doubted unless Rayzor is dealt....

Cujo's not coming to the Maple Leafs no more. We have out goaltenders. Toskala and Raycroft, Which in my opinion Toskala will start 60% of the games. Ugh i was actually looking forward in seeing Cujo back ina leafs jersey and how the leafs fans would react.
