yep, I like it

I don't like the draft this year and I really like Toskala. Look for the Leafs to try to trade Raycroft and defenseman for another forward

Trade Raycroft and pick up Joseph to back up Toskala. I like thismove as wll but I hope we are going to get a pick in the first 2 rounds this year.

Not sure yet- JFJ is not confirming anything on the radio right now.

I liked Mark Bell in Ottawa (OHL) and he was an 8th overall pick by Chicago. He's big and likes to fight- kind of like Kilger with an edge and better hands.

The 1st is this year, I'm not sure about the other picks

EDIT: 1st and 2nd are this year, 4th is in 2009

Toskala is a solid netminder but Mark Bell is terrible.

This trade is ok at best. Mark Bell's contract is terrible and pretty much forces Toronto into one high priced FA forward instead of two. Vesa Toskala looks like a solid number one goalie unlike Raycroft who's just awful. I guess Ferguson really is this desperate to make the playoffs in 2008.

I pray for the leafs that bell turns back into the 20,20 man he was before.

More to the game than goals and assists. I watched him in the playoffs, I liked what he had to show. he's a decent 3rd liner and if he can get a little more offense he'll be perfect for this team

Obviously, this is not a bad deal. But when I look at what Philly got for one first round pick, it looks terribel. The new cap is set up for people to think outsider the box and Philly did that with that move. Why can't we ever make moves like that?

there are rumours that the 1st might be next year or conditional to be next year, we'll find out when the deal is official

Reported from TSN.

1st and 2nd round picks in 2007 draft.

4th round pick in 2009 draft.

Yeah, we give up youth AGAIN, but Toskola is a solid goalie. Does this mean the end of Raycroft? Or maybe Toskola/Raycroft one-two punch? Doubt it but we will see...

I am upset, very upset. We just gave up our First round pick this year for a 30 year old goalie (was he a back up) and Mark Bell. It shows that the leafs do not want, and do not care about future. Bring on the Hamilton predators

Edit - I do not think they need Raycroft anymore. We have 2 starter ready goalies, + Aubin (who is probably gone) Plus Pogge in the works, Goaltending wont be a problem for us in a future, but we need some solid young players, which we don't have. This is why the leafs organization is terrible we give up prospects for older players.

I'm not quite sure how to react to this one (although my first reaction was utter joy as any news is good news at this point). I think Toskala is an upgrade over Raycroft so that is a positive. I also think Mark Bell is a Tucker-like player who can hopefully excel on a line with him.

On the other hand, $2m is a lot for a guy with less than 30 points last year and we now have two goalies who are unproven as starters.

I think this will work out if we are able to unload Raycroft and McCabe/Kubina and can then get a pick, another winger and a backup goalie (with a trade and/or cap room from unloading players).

Either way, it has made my day more exciting so I'm all for it.

Does anybody have any idea where we sit in regards to the cap after this? Looks like we just added salary for nothing to a team that was already not in a good position cap wise.

According to Howard Burger on the FAN, this is the first of a number of moves in which we will be getting back some picks and freeing up some cap space. even on it sown I like this deal, but if the rest of this is true, JFJ might do some face saving today.

McCabe has a no trade clause
