The Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Monday that forward Jason Blake is battling a rare form of leukemia.

"This morning I shared with my teammates news that I was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia," Blake said on the team's website.

Apparently it's treatable, and he's taking medication at the moment. I hope he recovers and fights this off.

This came outta left field for me. Why is it the Leafs always get bad news with their signings....I certainly hope they knew about this before signing him.

I wish him all the best in his battle and eventual recovery.

I know what he must be going through to an extent....it's a battle that should be fought without too much trouble with proper treatment....

hope he has a speedy recovery

I wish him and his family all the best. The most important part is its treatable...and hopefully will not lose a beat.
