Is Kubina being scouted

It appears there have been a lot of scouts at Leaf games particularly from the Edmonton Oilers...

Is there a Trade in the offing, as Souray is injured, could they be looking at one of our D, in particular Kubina...

Colaiacovo is almost ready to play and Stralman is in the wings...

We will have to take back some salary because of the 5 million Kubina's contract is for and the Oilers don't have that much cap room...

Or
Spector's trade rumours is reporting that the Oilers and Panthers are looking for an enforcer so the scouting could it be for Belak?

Oct.21
- The Senators are apparently willing to discuss tough guy winger Brian McGrattan with other teams. The Oilers and Panthers are believed seeking an enforcer.
Oct.22
TORONTO SUN: Steve Simmons reported Sunday the name of Maple Leafs enforcer Wade Belak has been kicked around as a possible option for the Panthers.

Spector's Note: Hat tip to GJ Berg for the Florida links. Sens tough guy Brian McGrattan's name has also been mentioned, but of those suggested Belak would probably be the best option as he can at least fill a role as a physical fifth or sixth defenceman.

Why would someone want Belak...
I'd take him for a prospect or pick or something not too valuable
and if we trade kubina i want robbie schremp ;)

If we did trade with the Oilers I wouldnt mind Staios coming this way and one of there young players like Nillson.

If the scouting is for Kubina this trade would interest me too...

If Belak is part of the deal a prospect or draft choice (if they have any to offer) would be nice too. Belak plays D not too badly, so two D could help them especially since Pitkanen is also being reported injured...

The Oilers would be an ideal trading partner. They have a lot of players that would interest any team. They've got quite a few young guns that I wouldn't mind.

This is a good time for him to be scouted. He is playing as well as he ever has in a Leaf uniform.

He's been the Leafs best defenseman over the past few games without McKlutz on the back end. This is the best time to deal him if JFJ was smart with Colaiacovo and McCabe ready to return in the next few weeks.

Take Kubina for anything.

Actually, Kubina has turned into quite the dependable player with McCabe out.

I agree he has played very well...

The fact remains we have one of the most expensive D in the league and one of the most porous. Trading a player that makes 5 million per year, really wouldn't hurt us, as we have an abundance of young Defencemen, that can play reasonably well...

Kubina, is a player that a team needs, to put them into contention to go for it all and I think a deadline trade should be the route to go, when teams desperate for a capable D will give prospects and draft choices to obtain one...

I am getting the felling that he is a goner. Although that might happen later into the season.
