Leafs at Kings

Post#1 » by Marmoset » Fri Jan 11, 2008 4:14 am

I just have to say - this is hilarious. :D

4-0 Kings after one period.

I've been waiting for this for 3 or 4 years - the total, rock-bottom, embarrassing collapse that will finally force the higher-ups out of denial and into action.

Tonight is not a night a to get depressed about the team, it's a time to rejoice, as the future might finally be upon us!

That clown JFJ should have been FIRED long time ago when he traded Rask for Raycroft. Both the Leafs and Raycroft have hit rock bottom tonight. What the heck are they going to do with Raycroft? You couldn't even trade him now for a bag of pucks.

Time to clean house, start at the top and make your way down.

That first period was the worst display of defense I've seen all season, that was absolutely terrible.

We fired 50+ shots yet again, and get blown away by one of the worst teams in the league. We have had a combined 100+ shots against 2 mediocre goaltenders against Philly and Kings, and it amazes me that we continue to fail to score and lose the game.

The problem is the type of shots they're getting. It's a lot like an NBA team that jacks up a ton of 3's. You're going to get a few to go in, but they're not quality opportunities. Just look at the poster boy for this, Jason Blake. The Leafs didn't have many chances where they forced LaBarbera to make a really tough save, and it's been the same for the last while.

Unfortunately it seems like more of the same old from the Leafs management today. Amazingly the players are admitting how bad things are (Sundin basically flat-out said guys were going to lose their jobs), but JFJ and Peddie were still staying the course (at least publicly). I don't like the call-up of Pogge YET - I would have waited until the season has been conceded before bringing him into this mess, but from JFJ's perspective, what does he have to lose? Exactly the type of reason he needs to be removed yesterday.
