6 points separates them from a playoff berth and the first over-all pick.

37 games remaining, JFJ & PM are on the hot seat, talks about Sundin waiving his NTC have been gradually increasing, and Pogge has been called up. We could be in for quite the ride for the second half of this season..

Stamkos, Doughty or Pietrangelo.

Knowing this organization, we're likely to trade that pick for some overpriced, over-the-hill piece that should get us in the playoffs but won't.

I get the feeling that even the most loyal would storm the Bastille that is MLSE.

and with the lottery system, you never know what could happen in terms of #91 becoming a Leaf.

I can see it now:

I can see it now:

Leafs go on a hot streak, but fail to miss the playoffs resulting in the #11 overall pick.

You forgot the part where they try and convince everyone that hot streak was the real team and by overpaying for some FA this off-season we should be a playoff team next year....

Kings and Bolts win & the Buds lose.

At least we're competitive for a top 3 pick; unlike the last two seasons where we fell out of the top 10 and missed the playoffs. At least we could have something to fall back on this season.

This draft is very solid. It looks to produce 1 franchise forward, about 5-6 first line forwards, and 3-4 top pairing dmen (these are just the obvious, never know about sleepers). Compared to some other drafts, it's very strong.

But, talking to a prospect guru I know, he's been telling me that the 2009 draft will be the best one since the two lockout drafts. He told me that potential for franchise players could be up around 2-3.

Just a quick update:

The Leafs are now last in the East, and are now sitting on a potential 2nd overall pick. 4 points separates them from 1st.

Even though Toronto is the Mecca of hockey, a top pick in this years draft and potential cap space can

This is potentially the top ten in this years draft...

1. Steven Stamkos, C
2. Alex Pietrangelo, D
3. Drew Doughty, D
4. Nikita Filatov, LW
5. Kyle Beach, C
6. Luke Schenn, D
7. Colten Teubert, D
8. Cody Hodgson, C
9. Colin Wilson, C
10. Zach Bogosian, D

Should we deal Sundin at the trade deadline to The Ducks and receive Edmonton's first in this years draft as part of a package...

We may be able to get say Stamkos and Schenn, as it stands, the potential is there to do so, not to mention second round choices, or other first rounders, depending on other trades Fletcher may make...

Starting next week approaching the Trade Deadline, we might find ourselves in a position, to get some pretty fair young players, even though I don't like seeing Mats traded, it could happen and lots of scenarios could play out...

Exciting Stuff in the next few weeks...

Anaheim would be stupid to trade that pick. I should do not see them trading it for Sundin.

Burke has already said, that should he go after a big name at the deadline, that pick would be in play, so Hossa or Sundin would more than likely be that big name, so it would be safe to assume, Fletcher would definitely ask for that pick, as part of a package...

What Burke said is that he would only deal that pick in a "hockey deal" meaning he wont give it up only for a rental and there will need to be more coming back then just Sundin. Try Sundin and Antropov for Bobby Ryan and Edmontons pick.

I don't see that quote in the article I posted, do you have a source for that "hockey deal" only statement...

Here is the gist of the source in "The Hockey News" ...

I'm assuming he would want a front line player, like Hossa or Sundin to make a deal for it and I'm also assuming, that Fletcher would want more than just the pick, in any deal involving Sundin, it may not include Bobby Ryan but it will involve prospects and may involve more draft choices...

Only time will tell what it will be, as evidently Burke is preparing an offer that will knock Fletcher's socks off, (as posted above in the Rumours Thread)...

""We think there's seven players in this draft and then there's a drop-off," he said. "If it looks like it's going to be a top seven pick, then it's not going for a rental. It can go in a hockey deal, but it's not going for a rental."

You think that Burke is going to give up that pick plus more for a rental in Sundin? Again what hes saying is that if he does indeed trade the pick its going to be a bigger deal where hes also getting a player back who will be on his team past this year.

Again you have made a statement without a source link...

It will ultimately play out, when a deal is put on the table and yes, I do think he will include that draft pick, in an offer for Mats...

I never said the pick wouldnt be included in a Sundin deal but there will be more going back Anaheim's way with Mats if they want the pick included, at least thats what Burke is saying.
