On an interview on Hockey Night in Canada, Scotty Bowman said he was ready to accept the job in Toronto and had a meeting with the board, He was seeking a deal similar to Colangelo and left the meeting feeling he was going to be hired however he was contacted by Peddie and and told they weren't interested...
Now Bowman was not at the top of my list but he sounded like he was gung-ho to join the team and take over and start making changes and for us to get a person of his stature, would certainly be a step in the right direction...
In a forum between periods several very good points were brought up, the primary one being, that because of his position with Detroit, he may have been able to pry one or two people from that Organization. That for me was a point, I hadn't considered and they hand pick all their management and maybe even some of their scouting staff, could have been brought over, they have great ability to get players, in late rounds...
So I think once again, that MLSE dropped the ball and should have Hired him, we have a ton of money to get anyone but knowning that bunch Scotty wanted too much money and so they decided no Scotty...
Peddie will feel the heat in tomorrow's media...

The reason is simple, Peddie refuses to relinquish the power he has. He had no choice on the basketball side, something had to be done as attendance was somewhat wavering and he had so badly f'ed up his last hire.
The hockey side, there is no real pressure to make changes. He knows, once he's out of the hockey side, he'll basically have nothing to do with either sports franchise when it comes to matters regarding the operation of both sports franchises. He may still have a hand in some marketing stuff and such, but once he brings in someone of Bowman's stature, it's pretty much over for him.
This is the biggest problem with the Leafs. Too many guys with their hands in the pot and trying to hold on to the power.
