TSN and several other news outlets are reporting the Leafs have contacted Cliff Fletcher to see if he would be interested in taking over the team for the remainder of the season. the move would give the club time till and including the summer to gauge the interest of "A" list candidates out there currently (or not) employed.
I think this would be a great interim move.

Not 100% sold on it, but it's not a bad move.
Again, there are more than enough capable people that should be coming in as President of the Leafs with enough knowledge to handle the GM duties for the rest of the season. Whether it's Scotty, Colin Campbell, Neil Smith or the various others. These are people that should be considered for the President's job and overseeing the entire hockey operation and they are available now.
Bringing in Fletcher for the rest of the season with the mandate to clear salaries and acquire young assets such as prospects and picks would be good. However I have little faith in the organization going forward as long as Peddie is still the President.
At what point is he going to be held accountable for his role in this? I know he's good at making money and expanding MLSE businesses but his performance related to both sports franchises is something worthy of a firing.
Just wanted to add that firing him might not make sense from a business perspective, but remove him with all things to do with on-ice, on-court or on-field decisions.

Absolutely Right good post...
As a matter of fact Fletcher or any of the others you mentioned could take over the GM, then at end of the season Take over operations replacing Peddie and Hiring a new GM at that time but that would be asking too much, just a dream...

I'm not sold on this either. I personally think it's possible to get a star president now (not GM). But this is pretty much what the raptors did, Fletcher in the interim, then get the big name to take over the team completely with Fletcher in the background.
In this case Fletcher= Embry, and then he would help find a "Colangelo"

I am hoping against all hope that is the case. If Fletcher is the guy this is a terrible move.
