The CBC's Hockey Night in Canada is planning to relegate the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Southern Ontario market and give the Pittsburgh Penguins-Montreal Canadiens game national distribution on Saturday night.

This will be one of the few times in the past several years that the Leafs will not be seen outside Ontario.

This could be the first of many times they do this, and can't blame them for it. Despite the Leafs large fan base across Canada, the Sens and Habs are having great seasons, and should prolly be given priority over the Leafs games right now.

That's not the first time recently something like this has happened. Midway through the 3rd period between the Leafs and Coyotes with the Leafs down 5-1, CBC pulled the coverage and put on Montreal and Ottawa. If I were MLSE, I'd be embarrassed that the quality product could be causing this to happen

In which case I will never make a negative comment about the CBC again. At least I will try real hard not to. 8)

I wish they did this more often so that hockeyfutures would not have a thread about the Leafs being on CBC EVERY week.

We all understand that ratings drive the engine. However, it must be frustrating for fans of the Sens and the Habs it this regard. However, a few more year of stinkage by the Leafs and you never know.
