Right now it looks like we will most likely be picking in the #8- #10 range or somewhere around there. This thread is to discuss what you would trade to move up in the draft. Would you do a trade like this-
#8
Steen
for
#2
with the #2 pick we draft Drew Doughty
#8
Stajan
for
#5
with the #5 pick we draft Zach Bogosian

I really doubt we're moving up unless it's for #1, and I wouldn't be excited about trading up for Bogosian. I really like the kid offensively, but I don't really know why I don't like his defensive style. He could go anywhere from 2-5, but I'd rather go after a Pietrangelo or Schenn.

youd rather have Schenn then Bogosian?
I dont see it. Schenn will be a steady defensive defencemen but I dont see him having that high of a ceiling while Bogosians ceiling is realy high and very well could be a shea weber clone. I guess I like Bogosians skating, shot and offensive abilities more then Schenn's toughness and leadership.

Except that Weber is stronger/tougher/bigger than Bogosian? And Bogosian is probably a better skater? There a two way different players. I wouldn't take Schenn over Bogosian generally, because Bogosian does as you said have a higher ceiling and Schenn is more likely to be that top 4 defensive d-man. But for the Leafs needs; they need that steady defensive d-man that Schenn is. Schenn would be the perfect fit for the Leafs IMO, since we already have those offensive juggernauts in Kaberle/McCabe (but things could change, so if McCabe or Kubina are gone obviously I'd rather go with Bogosian). But I still think both are gone by the time we pick and we'll have our chance of the forwards left (Boedker/Hodgson/Wilson).

Bogosian is basically the same size now as Weber was when he was drafted. Weber is stronger? Of course he's stronger but Bogosian is as strong now as Weber was when he was drafted. Haha they are not two way different players, both have good size, good shot, can both skate and play really physical. The Leafs need to take the BPA there in no position to be drafting for needs and imo Bogosian is already the better of the two players and has a much higher ceiling.
and explain to me how Schenn has more chance of being a top 4 defencemen then Bogosian. Bogosian is arguable as good as Schenn right now (many scouts actually think Bogosian could go #2 overall) and has a significant edge in terms of long term potential.

^This is why it's your opinion. Schenn is a LOCK as a stay at home defender, top 4. Bogosian is a slightly more hit or miss, but is easily the more TALENTED of the two. Bogosian will likely end up being a top 2 d-man, but I believe taking him over Doughty at #2 would be a mistake. The kid's got talent and there's no doubt he's more of a complete package than many d-men in the draft, but looking at Schenn's game, his defensive ability is already at an NHL level. From what I've seen of Bogosian, his offensive game is a huge part of his game and he loves to jump into the rush. Correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't really seen that much of Weber), but I don't think he's got the same offensive tendency to jump right into the rush. They do both have pretty similar size and skills, but IMO they have different strengths/weaknesses. We don't have a choice because Zach's gonna be gone by the time we draft and Schenn will PROBABLY be. If we had a choice of either, who would I take? Bogosian, he's the best player on the board and has the more potential of the two. Who's the guy I think would be the better fit on the Leafs right away? Schenn. Hope that clears up my thoughts and plz correct me if I'm wrong in anything I said

Here's an interesting ESPN Mock Draft:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3381639
It has us taking Tyler Myers, but I really don't think we should take a project pick. I'd rather take Hodgson or even Boedker, but Myers could end up having the biggest reward them all.
