Rumors are that the Leafs and Lightening have already discussed and agreed upon a trade that would see the Leafs get the #2 pick in the draft along with Ryan Malone and possibly another contract in exchange for the #7 pick from the Leafs. Elliott Friedman says there is talk all around the league that this is done.

Information on the proposed deal has evolved to where it is reported that Tampa has asked for Schenn, Kaberle and the 7th pick in exchange for the 2nd pick and Malone. Burke has since stated he would not part with Schenn under any circumstances. He will be a guest on the FAN590 at 3pm this afternoon I believe.

Thats way too much for the 2nd pick and I don't think Burke would do anything close to that. Malone's contract is crazy- I don't want anything to do with it.

if it were up to me, I'd give up on Tavares and set my sights on #3 and Duchene- its a more likely/possible scenario and he's underrated because of the Taveres/Hedman hype machine for the last year.

Did anyone catch what Burke had to say on the Fan590 segment? I missed it

7th + kaberle for 2nd + malone is fair in my opinion

if they wanted schenn i would ask for stamkos in return lol

Of interest, he said he envisions Schenn as a 2nd defenceman. Not a 1st guy, because he doesn't have the offensive game. Does this mean all our marbles are with an Adam Foote?

BTW, I think Elliotte Friedman's deal is still on (7th for Malone + 2nd), but after the story leaked, Tampa got pissed and they went to the media with their crazy deal (Schenn, Kaberle, etc), just to embarrass Burke. And Burke quickly shut all talk down.

But the Leafs are moving up in the draft, IMO.

That's wishfull thinking on Tampa's front, I honestly don't think that'll happen. With that said, I WOULD NOT be opposed to trading schenn in any deal, just not a deal that has the phrase "Schenn and"
