Sooooo True Folksssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perry must be reading this board because I said this 2 weeks ago. Move RJ to SG and trade for an all star wing. Ingram would be a realistic choice. Embiid is a pipe dream and Mitchell would make us worse defensively. Ingram would be my target if he becomes available and won’t cost nearly as much as Embiid and Mitchell.

Brunson
Barrett
Ingram
Randle
Robinson

Top 3 in the East

I really don't understand it. We have two guys (Brunson and Randle) that need the ball a lot in their hands. With Brunson it is ok because he is generally very good at what he is doing (offense, shooting). Randle is much more mixed and average. Barrett also needs the ball a little here and there, he is not a player effective off the ball. Now assume, we would somehow trade for a player that can create at the 3, off the dribble, pushing RJ to the 2. By definition that player would also need the ball a lot in his hands---how is that going to work out?

I think realistically we have to look at it in terms of context and politics. He likely does not want to say that either Randle or RJ would have to go in such a trade but that is what it boils down to in the end. The difficulty with trading Randle however is that we have no PF on the roster other than him. So if you trade for a creator off the dribble at the 3 and Randle goes in that trade, you would also have to get a starting caliber PF....making such a trade highly unlikely.

We have to view the Knicks a little like Minnesota. If there is not some significant improvement by one of our own players, there is not a realistic or plausible way to make a jump overall. Minny got much better once Ant took a step. If RJ does not take a step, you need a miracle trade or something unexpected (like the Brunson signing).

And I'd go as far as saying that even adding Paul George or Ingram for free to this team would not necessarily elevate it to contender status. The players need to fit.

This season...

Half of RJ's points per game are from catch and shoot 3's, assisted by others.

75% of his made field goals are assisted by other players.

RJ is at his best when he plays within the flow of the offense and is willing to let the game come to him.

He also is playing with great pace and looking for transition opportunities to score.

Although when it calls for it and he needs to forcefully get an Iso bucket he can do that too.

This season RJ is showing he is very adaptable as an offensive player

I'm mixing it a little in my judgement because as of today we still don't know whether all that is legitimate or just a hot streak....Guess two months from now we'll know for sure....
