Very Interesting! Randle’s Gravity Helps Our Shooters

Post#1 » by sol537 » Wed Jun 26, 2024 1:00 pm

From Reddit:

Knicks 3P% WITHOUT Julius Randle ➡️ WITH Julius Randle: Jalen Brunson | 37% ➡️ 43% Donte DiVincenzo | 38% ➡️ 44% OG Anunoby | 36% ➡️ 43% Josh Hart | 30% ➡️ 33% Miles McBride | 39% ➡️ 53% Corner 3 shot freq: OG | 17% ➡️ 39% Donte | 17% ➡️ 22% Hart | 7% ➡️ 18% JB | 4.4% ➡️ 4.3%

We have to keep Randle and see if this trend continues for a full season…. He’d also likely take a team friendly deal again…

“Bridges | 37% ➡️ 53%”

Bridges is a 40% corner 3 point shooter, too.

Obviously he helps, he’s a 3x all star and all nba talent. I know we love to bring up the 10 or so games where he had the bad playoffs when he tried to carry a talent devoid roster as a first option and when he played on a destroyed ankle that needed surgery but I’m looking past that. His known weaknesses are mitigated a lot with Mikal and OG on the roster. I do worry about what are rim protection situation might be so hopefully that’s addressed because he’s not a rim protector.

Also he has been one of the most double teamed players in the nba so that situation is just gonna get better and better. He already looks ripped again in the offseason videos and he just had surgery a couple months ago

I think he extends on a team friendly deal. His return to CAA was no coincidence. I would not mind if we kept him and Mitch and try to win with two of the longest tenured Lnicks.

These numbers are incredible and show Randle’s potential impact on a good team. Can’t just trade him away for nothing.

Some of us have been saying this for years to the people that want to dump Randle for batum or overrated players like KAT.

He’s our #2 if he shares the ball like he did last year team can be unstoppable if no one cares about who scores. Was clear we needed him last year to take pressure off.

Not many teams have 2 legitimate players that need to be double teamed. Last season's version of JB and Randle duo did everything right. It was just the clunkiness of the starting lineup that was an issue.

His ankle injury -- by his own admission -- helped him become more of a student of the game by watching video. And it showed last season. I'm hoping for more of the same with the shoulder injury.
