Leon Rose traded away Quick, knowing he has Deuce.

They traded away Grimes, knowing they have Deuce.

He traded away Divo, knowing he was smart enough to keep Deuce.

So the evidience is: 3 very good guards traded, and still we kept Deuce. Yes, I'd trade him straight up for Wemby.

That's a good point. They've specifically kept him. He could very easily have been moved.

I'm looking for Deuce to be that extra sauce player you always remember doing good things for a championship team. I'm plucking totally random names out of my arse with no regard to position, but guys like Batum, Marjerle, Cassell, Battier, just that guy who doesn't get all the glory, but was there in crunch time in the big games making key plays that helped win the ring.

Yes. And they kept their appreciation of Deuce quiet while they praised IQ, Grimes, and Divo. They were planning on keeping him for a while but didn’t want other teams to know how much they valued him.

The other teams may just as well have insisted on getting the respective other player. Not that McBride hasn’t been very impressive - he has, but DiVincenzo would be my choice.

Yeah, I wouldn't say that they chose Deuce over the other guys. I doubt a RJ/McBride package gets OG last season. Even if the Knicks wanted to send out Deuce instead of DDV with Randle it's almost impossible to match salaries with KAT since Minny reportedly didn't want Mitch. They may have preferred Deuce over Grimes at the time of the trade but not even sure if Deuce was trade eligible so soon after signing his extension. I don't know.

Deuce has exceeded most people's expectations but I wouldn't assume he was the chosen one or is untouchable. They traded IQ and in OG's first game in January Thibs pulled Deuce after 2 minutes in the first half. They traded Grimes and in Bogey and Burks' second game in the middle of February Deuce was benched for the entire second half. Just last May in a critcal Game 6 of the Sixer's series Thibs basically played the starters the entire game with iHart and Mitch splitting minutes at the 5 with Deuce in single digit minutes.

With all the uncertainty surrounding the front court this offseason from Randle's contract to retaining iHart to Mitch's health to OG's contract and health they still drafted another point guard in Kolek, signed another point guard in Payne and are currently evaluating another 2 guard that may be a rotational player in Shamet. Deuce could easily be the next guy shipped out. Prior to KAT trade I wasn't even sure if or how much McBride would play on a regular basis.

Sam Cassel was a killer...with a nack for hitting the right shot at the right time. Deuce has shown similar capability...

Indeed. Sam was that guy any team would want on their side. He was a clutch MF

Of course Divo was everyone's choice. McBride is several years behind the curve. Just explaining why the Knicks were willing to part with Divo if they kept Deuce. We will miss him without a doubt, but we can look to Deuce for a lot.

We're in "win now" mode... so nobody is untouchable. He's our best trade asset.
