Nobody insulted his family. They’re making fun of his sneakers and he’s a millionaire.

These guys are WAY too soft nowadays and take even the slightest criticism to heart. Brunson is one of the few players in today’s era who will hear someone criticize his game and go out there and try to be better instead of whine about it.

Humor is 100% subjective though. It doesn't matter if Hart was talking about his shoes, the dude didn't find it funny and didn't laugh. That's how comedy works whether you like or not.

This notion that everyone has to find humor in the same exact thing is really weird.

No offense dude but this makes no sense.

Self humor is something everyone should have. Nobody should take themselves too seriously.

Those people who can dish it but can’t take it are some of the most annoying people to be around.

It’s not admirable trait. Defending it isn’t the hill to die on.

It's not really about people taking themselves too seriously.

If someone says something about you that you don't like, and you laugh it off, that's totally fine. That's how you handle things. I'm not judging.

But realistically, no one person is the same and it's irrational to think that everyone should or will respond to something disrespectful said about them amicably. Not everyone jokes around or finds stuff funny.

Context matters. They're at the all star game. It's supposed to be a celebration of the players, not a roast.

Yeah, and those people - for the most part - are insufferable.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Reading the feedback in this thread I'm in awe of anyone who lasted more than five minutes watching this ASG donkey show

That would qualify you as having superhuman powers of masochism combined with the ability to digest trash for dinner

The All-Star game is the equivalent of taking a corpse that died 10 years ago, propping it up, and pretending it's still alive. IT'S DEAD! LET IT GO!!

The whole weekend is just horrible. The players couldn't care less about it so why should we? They'd rather have a weekend vacation than risk injury for a meaningless contest. Also, today's generation of players are so "buddy-buddy" with each other that natural rivalries no longer exist. They no longer have the pride to put up a fight and beat someone anymore as a statement of respect.

Maybe Silver can fix things by morphing the December Play-In Tournament with the All-Star game. Maybe All-Stars can be named in an official ceremony and then the game be a scheduled contest between the best East vs. West team at the half (that actually counts toward the season). Or, maybe they can do like the NHL and just cancel it altogether.

Something needs to be done because All-Star weekend has become a joke that's nowhere near funny.

I am all for the NBA cup final, then the ceremony like Hall of Fame or something like that. If Vegas wants this so much then let them host it yearly.

These guys get their egos stroked everywhere. They’re the absolutely softest athletes I’ve seen in my lifetime, I’m sorry.

Adam Silver is begging these dudes in pre game meetings to play hard and they just don’t care.

I don’t even like Kevin Hart but a lighthearted jab about sneakers when these millionaires don’t care about entertaining the fans who pay their salary is nothing in the scale of things to be upset over.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

It also matters the relationship you have with the person

We all fundamentally understand this. We have friends who we can talk sh*t to and who sh*t talk us and we just laugh it off, but if a stranger or someone you only kinda know said the same thing, it would not be as well received

Like, if they got NAW on the mic to roast SGA, even if it were the same things being said, I think he would've taken it better, for example cause they're cousins and I believe pretty close

But regardless, not the time or the place. Also dudes were probably pissed because, you know, they just wanna go out there and have fun, but they had all these interruptions and breaks getting in the way, and on top of that you have Kevin Hart on the mic for the whole arena to hear trying to clown on you. Probably just really annoying to be there at that moment.

I saw an all star donkey show in Juarez many years ago and let me tell you, it was far more entertaining than this was.

Kevin Hart the perfect emcee for this event because his career is on fumes and running on past success the same as the NBA all star game, but like the NBA all star game the mass entertainment complex still trying to extract whatever value they can from him.

Oh, and it helps that both Kevin Hart and Adam Silver have no shame.

Then again Hart's career in film goes like a lot of comedians. A few good movies and dozens of turds, but a small number of them get to churn them over and over. And then a miniscule number of them actually become good actors.

I personally never liked the all-star game. Not even 30 years ago---the game itself was mostly lame, at best you had 3 quarters of show and uncompetitive basketball with a final quarter that grew a bit more competitive. I watched the all-star games roughly from 1996-2001 and never understood its allure. Basically didn't bother to watch it again for close to 25 years (some drips of highlights here and there maybe). The thing is completely unattractive---I was always astonished that people seemed to have interest in it. Maybe I was just ahead of my time. :D

I'm with everyone saying the players should just get a 2 week vacation.
