I mean TJ is crushing the G-league laughably because if/when physically without the foot problem he's a very positive NBA player, so him playing in the G-league is woefully overpowered. This is not Moses Brown, where he's struggling to fit in between being very plus EV in the G-league and hard to tell if he can hack it in the league.

4/5 years ago the two massively undervalued contracts in the (NBA) league were TJ and Jerami. Jerami stayed fit, got paid, is a very decent starter. TJ got hurt and is now looking to come back. If his foot holds up now he's an absolute bargin.

I hope that his 3 point % has been on the rise recently. 36% is kinda meh for G league stats.

Can someone explain to me what's Warren's skill set is that can help the team in what his role will be?

Does he defend?
Does he space the floor?

The answer to both is no.

He can score but in what universe with the team we have will be be asked to have the ball in his hands?

Our bench scoring blows. I partially blame Thibs for not giving the new guys enough burn to settle in and prove themselves. With that being said, TJ Warren can at times be a scoring machine. If Thibs lets him get some court time, there's a possibility he might shine.

Are there many opportunities to score from the bench? They are sharing the court with other starters most of the time. Brunson is still spends more time on-ball than any player in the league. KAT still needs his touches. Mikal and OG can go long stretches without being involved in the offense already. Hart has taken some of Randle's on-ball role and isn't really a great off-ball player.

Payne and McBride are near the top of the team in offensive rating and have the two highest net ratings. The only person on the bench that seems to drag the offense down is Precious and he barely shoots. Where are Warren's minutes, touches and shots going to come from to make an impact as a scorer and does he do other things to help the team when he is not getting touches?

Maybe there is a possibility he takes Precious' limited role behind OG once Mitch returns at the 5 but then i'm not sure if he would be featured in the offense ahead of Brunson, KAT, Mikal or even Payne at this point. I don't mind having him as another option off the bench. I'm just not sure where he fits in the regular rotation and what his role would be.

I just don't think the team is designed that way. They are what #2 in OFF rating. When Brunson goes to the bench KAT is back in the game.

The guys we need are low usage C&S guys. That can also defend on the wing.

The just aren't going to run TJ Warren post up on the wing so he can get buckets.

Cool. Screw signing him. We'll just stay put I guess.

We are not looking for a rotation player because
a) There's not one available for the pennies we have under the 2nd apron
b) We already have a full rotation when everyone is healthy

We're looking for a break glass in case of emergency player.
I don't think you can do better than TJ Warren.
Point taken that he doesn't exactly fit the team needs, but I still think that's a pretty good pick up.
He can come back next year as a deep bench piece in case of injury.

Sure it would be great to have a ranger defender in our back pocket, but let's not underrate wings who know how to score in a variety of ways. That would be a pretty good find on the bargain heap.

Personally, I think this team needs another guy who can get a bucket. The games when Payne gets hot the team is like a run away train mostly cause no team caring about what Cam Payne is doing, not that Warren will play much but he could have that same impact and I can see a situation where he could be taking the situational Shamet mins especially if he can’t hit the backside of a barn.

Being the 2nd most efficient team in the NBA, our Offense isn't exactly a problem.

We have a height problem, the guards we have are too short and their defense are easily impacted by screens, picks and switches.

We counter their height deficiencies by playing passing lanes for defections and steals( 1st and 2nd in each category). that tends to leave the perimeter open for 3's.

We can not beat the celtics the way we are currently constructed, even with Mitch...you need wing defenders all over the place

Our bench could def use a bigger wing and scorer. We are last in the league in bench scoring and OG and Hart are banged up. At this point TJ Warren is probably the best we can bring in. He could play at one point, and is only 31. Maybe he has something left. 0 risk really.
