McC is basically a red shirt rookie next year. He has barely been active most of this year. Looks like he has the physical tools and some quickness. Should be an interesting project if he can stay healthy.
Same with Pac but he's younger and not as physically grown yet. He showed a little bit with his spacing and moving to the right spots. Some hustle on D and can get hot from three. Another young project.
Huk was beginning to get into his amd the injury happened. All three of these guys are in the same mold right now in my eyes. Potential flashes but, all injury issues. Huk seems further along than the other two though.
Kolek is playing for now. No injuries. Took advantage early when he got the opportunity kinda plateaued a bit. Not bad. Just hasn't scored well and hasn't pulled a Linsanity. He's small ans needs to bulk up and work on his scoring. Seems like he should be able to put it together. Better defender than I expected by far as well. Him and Huk seem closest at the moment.
Who knows what another full summer can do for any of these kids? We really need to hit on a couple though.
Yep. That's an unknown for next season, if Huk, Kolek & McCuller (and maybe Dadiet) can become a servicable bench for NY next year.
Maybe they trade Mitch in the off-season (final year of his contract and injury prone but when healthy, I think he could help us). Maybe they trade Mikal rather than extend him, since he's not been that great and McBride's contract is certainly tradable, but they'd want somethign good back. There are questions and maybe moves to be made, but the bench will probably come from our rookies this year, and maybe Delon Wright. Maybe Shamet comes back. It feels thin, but there's a chance our rookies this year become a solid bench next year. Maybe. But it's a stretch.
Leon loves making moves, so I have no idea what next year will look like. I miss Hartenstein. . . . a ton of unknowns, but first things first. Lets see how this oddly put together but talented team performs in the playoffs. Maybe they'll start playing defense when it's down to a 7-game series.
