They play nervous in front of their own fanbase. It's kinda fascinating as it is aggravating

While star players on visiting teams have their career game here. SMDH

Some on the Raptors board draw a parallel between the Knicks and the Toronto Maple Leafs, an iconic franchise that hasn't won the Stanley Cup since 1967! (I was in 8th grade and remember watching the series). Two things often said about the Leafs, there is pressure on the players being on such a high profile team the city is obsessed with. And opposing players often play great games in Toronto because so many are from Ontario, grew up watching the Leafs on TV, and have a lot of family members who come to games when their team visits.

Maybe some similarities there

I was at game 1 and 5 vs Detroit, game 3 and 6 vs Boston and game 1 vs Indiana and it was super loud. Cannot use noise or crowd support as an excuse.

I think maybe they get too comfortable at home with family and friends around.

Yes, I think the fans REALLY want the team to win so so bad, there's pressure to live up to their expectations to give what the fans want...

I mean all fans in other 29 arenas also want their teams to win bad, but the Knicks fans at MSG are just louder and "more passionate", I think the players easily get caught up in playing to NOT disappoint the fans (play not to lose)/ playing for the fans instead of playing for the team/ themselves first

As the road team on the other hand, it's fun to spoil the fans wishes esp the ones that REALLY DESPERATELY want a W and that's why opposing teams tend to play well at MSG

Knicks are more talented. But they play with a stick up their a$s.

Nothing helps you play looser than down 20 on the road, apparently, because we’re 3-0. Meanwhile bricking clutch FTs as MSG audibly “shushes” itself.

All we do is spend everyday of our lives ruminating over every bit of minutia concerning this team.

Seriously, Knicks fans are the most passionate and supportive fans around. I don't know why that's a problem.

I thought that maybe it was the media but I don't think that's been the problem at all.

i think its honestly just the motivation of opposing players.

these people care way more about putting up a show in the garden than in charlotte or memphis or whatever. dont wanna sound offensive to those teams, but it is what it is :D

Seems like with this team the MSG is not exactly an "advantage"
im bout dat action boss

Not a hockey guy, so it's fascinating to believe that a hockey team in Toronto, the country's largest and internationally known city, hasn't won a Cup since 67. That's a great comparison.

They had different roles on the team though. Randle had to carry the team as the number #1 guy until Brunson came and got all the hate for not being a true #1. IHart was a backup most of the time he was here and came to an already good team as a role player with low expectations for him.

Good points. But you have to agree that Randle was just always on the edge of losing his composure.

perhaps the front office should be wary of such things before signing prospect to a contract, no?
see if they are fit to play under the bright lights

Maybe because we get the focus we need to overcome a lack of systems and coaching/player attention to detail
