Is our bench better than we’ve been led to believe?

Most of the veteran players on the bench had extended roles in their careers including just last year on this team (Deuce and Precious). Our first round pick ranked 66th in total minutes among rookie players. Hukporti ranked 54th and Kolek ranked 48th. Even the coaching staff knew little what these players can and cannot do because we were not practicing as much as other teams did to give a break to the starters. These are all decisions by the coach. Didn’t bother to see what he had on the bench. It was simply irrelevant to him.

If people think our bench is shallow now, just wait until they pull off some crazy Giannis / KD trade. We'll be down to McBride starting and the bench being 4-5 vet minimum guys who will barely play.

Thibs failed the bench by not letting Hart lead the bench. And not building confidence in them.

But also, Payne had a decent stretch back in December, and the moment he made 1 mistake, he was pulled. It was interesting to see a dude that's 10+ years in the league look absolutely spooked because of Thibs.
