so this one was testing me...typically I have a smaller guard bias.

But everything in Jase tells me he's going to be a good player and if say he was 2 inches taller he probably would be a lock lotto top-10 type pick.

He is overly EFF, doesn't turn the ball over, had one of the highest BPM in college basketball as a true freshman.

His usage because he was on a good team was lower early in the year but it picked up as the season went along and his EFF didn't take a huge hit.

Brunson has kinda made me re-evaluate bucking that smaller guard trend if all the metrics point to someone being a good player so that is what I'm going on. 3-level scorer and his wingpsan being 6'6 is similar to a guard like Pat Bev so he is a disruptive defender even being on the shorter side.

Love Jase. I was this close to taking him at 15, but had 0 bigs on my roster after 2025

Walter Clayton Jr is someone I’m very happy with. He should have a long NBA career and make an impact whether it’s more of a 6th man spark off the bench of a starter. Smaller guards have made me nervous but with the success of guys like Brunson, Pritchard, and even Jared McCain last year, they’ve shown there is a legitimate path to success.

After parting ways with Coby White and Ivey it opens up more of a need at PG. In the sim I may be able to get away with Reaves and McCain this year but want to continue to build that pipeline.

Clayton is a ridiculous shot maker, takes care of the ball, is an underrated athlete, and has a championship pedigree. Landing spot will be massive like many prospects, but he has a set of skills I think any team could utilize

Yeah, I just want pros at this point in the draft. Clayton will hang in league a while. Too technically sound not to.

I am trying to buck my own trend for smaller-ish type guards...especially when my favorite team is built around a smaller guard. And Jase is probably a better shooter then Brunson was at this point in there careers. He is also a better defender (the 6'6 wingspan makes me comfortable with him on that end). Now his on ball shot creation/usage is not where Brunson's was but he has really good handle and touch around the rim so I can see him growing into a larger usage roll.

For now I just imagine him playing with a Jokic running DHO or running his threw off ball screens and be a threat of the catch or attack close outs.

Clayton basically willed Florida to a national championship with his elite/clutch shot making. He very much has some Jamal Murray in his game.

This is the guy I really was considering trying to obtain. Very nice pick. My type of guard.

If he could be a Murray-lite that would be great. Hell, even if he tried to carve out a similar role to Pritchard, that’s super valuable.

His wingspan being 6’4 makes me a little nervous but he has enough game that I think he can make it work.

I’d love for him to go to a place like Orlando where they desperately need shooting even after the Bane trade

Probably done with moves other than adding a guy or two from the FA heap. Needed to address my glaring defensive weakness after having a top 6 offense last year. Tried building a team of players I really enjoy but also hopefully fit well together.

30 ppg scorer in Kyrie
Two All-Defensive dogs in Suggs and Camara who can switch easily
Inside/outside big man attack in Naz Reid and Jarrett Allen
Young stud in Castle who I think has crazy upside, Terrance Shannon Jr. is also nice
Steady veteran presence in Adams/one of the best pound for pound rebounders
Steady scorer off the bench in Keldon Johnson
And then Niang/Watford who can add some wing versatility in a pinch

Kyrie / Castle
Suggs / Keldon
Camara / Niang / TSJ
Naz / Watford
Allen / Adams
