Me too. I don't like our chances against OKC, but it would have been cool to face them and just make it to the finals. I don't like Indiana, but props to them for wining as much as they did.

Even if Thibs we can win at least two games against this OKC if we got into the finals, the talent gap isn't that huge.

But the other two wins will be from our future coach. Talent alone is not enough to win the champ without a modern and decent driver.

It's very hard to win one - you either need an incredibly dominant roster/team - or a very good one with some (a lot) of luck.

This year felt like it was a big missed opportunity - and not just because we lost to the Pacers. I don't see us beating OKC with Thibs and the schemes (lack thereof). The timing was off, ideally we would have already had the right coach last year or at latest the beginning of this year.

Going forward have to hope they can have some luck along with some fringe moves, and a good coach that knows how to utilize a very talented roster.

What if two years in a row. We are getting closer. Looks like this year the roster will have a lot of continuity and hopefully a better coach/system that can get us over the hump.

Guys this team was only 2 wins away from the Finals. You don't mess up G1 vs the Pacers and we would have been looking at G7 is MSG. The Pacers and the Nuggets proved OKC is not unbeatable, and think the Knicks would have had a great shot at the title if some possessions would have gone the other way.

That being said, the team is just there. They can win the championship, no doubt.

This year was perhaps our best chance- we were, with the exception of Robinson and JB’s tweaked ankle, exceeding healthy - like unreal healthy compared to the rest of the league.

If I am betting, I don’t think I could bet for similar luck/healthy next year.

Having seen OKC and Indy go at it for 7 games - I do think depth is going to be an issue - and it will be interesting to see what the FO does on the front.

I voted no on the Championship in the Brunson era - I totally see this sadly playing out like the Ewing Knicks where we just never got enough to get over the hump. The January 2024 Knicks had a shot. Too bad they all broke down at the same time at the end.

To be fair, what we need/needed is a pipeline. A lot of the depth the pacers picked up were off of a scrap heap. Thomas Bryant was available to anyone. Other depth pieces they obtained for nominal assets.

What will Huk, Pac, Kolek, McCullar look like next year?
Can we get Cam Whitmore in an affordable way?
Can Deuce return to his best version?

The next HC is going to be essential to determine what move we will/should make. Doesn't look like we are doing things in order here so it seems unlikely to me that we will be winning a ring any time soon.

If we trade for Giannis, that means at least KAT is going our OR that OG/Bridges is going out. It could always be all three.
We would still have to figure out how to pair him with a stretch 5 who can rebound (not an easy find).

Even if we get him, we are going to need a lot of help putting a roster around him.

Best for us to not be in that discussion and instead to look at ways to turn OG into two more versatile players.

we dont want brunson to be our 1a guy because hes a point guard. but kat for damn sure is not a 1a guy. and they are both really bad on defense. I dont know if we can just add a player that gives us what we need. we might need to get off KAT imo.

our finals/championship run has to look like the pacers one. We need the new coach to really improve this team.

this. knicks will not get out of second round with KAT on the roster (this year was a fluke with injuries, as IND exposed the knicks). knicks at least had an identity with defense and grit. KAT is childish, weak, and not a winning player.

i said a while ago that i'd take miles turner for KAT straight up. that'd improve the team.

with thibs gone and KAT still on the roster, knicks will take step back
