Could we realistically get Michale Redd?

Post#1 » by marik1234xx » Sat Jan 5, 2008 6:14 am

If the Bucks do make everyone except Yi and Bogut available like they're planning on doing, do you think we have a shot at him? I think he'd be worth it if we also trade Zach.

I doubt it though sadly.

It's possible if we include our draft pick for this year. Frankly I wouldn't want to. I don't like Michael Redd. He takes a lot of terrible shots, and even though he makes some of them I don't like the way he plays. He reminds me of a SG version of Zach Randolph.

No. Redd has the type of value where they would be justified in demanding young players or picks in return, both of which we either don't have the right mix of, or we shouldn't be giving up in the first place. Though it's an interesting notion that he's available, I think pursuing him is not in our best interest.

Will the Milwaukee Bucks be the 6th team that Isiah helps make better?

1) Suns
2) Bulls
3) Blazers
4) Magic
5) Raptors

I'm still waiting for him to make the Knicks better.

1. Why would they want Randolph??

2. I think they want Bogut at the C and Jianlian at the PF

3. The only player I'd want from the Bucks is Mo Williams, but the Knicks have nobody outside of Lee that any team wants.

If Milwaukee holds a fire sale, sure, why not. But he'll cost us. I think he's a turbocharged Allan Houston (in that he provides some of the other stats that Allan never really provided, like rebounds for instance). I'd go after him... BUT, we are unlikely to land him without including our pick this summer, which I WOULDN'T do.

no we don't have a real chance

i expect teams like: orlando, miami, Cleveland, new orleans, houston to be more aggressive.

I meant trade Randolph to a different team but I doubt now that we have a chance at Redd mainly because Lee is our biggest piece and they would like him and do a deal with him included, but that's the thing...he's a PF...they're set with their big men. He won't be starting, I think they want and will just keep Yi at PF and Bogut at C...so they're probably looking for a guard or SF in return...a young one that is...plus a pick...and expiring contracts or ones that expire in 2 years.

Redd is a bit like Zach Randolph. He's an incomplete player with a max (or near max) contract. He still has value and other teams might outbid us.

At a minimum it would take our lotto pick, which I'm not sure I'd give up, on top of that, maybe Malik for salary, and some young players to balance salary (maybe Nate & Freddy).

Even then, Milwaukee might get more from Cleveland or Miami or some other team - it's possible.

But I don't really want him. He's a short term fix, and not enough of a fix.

What about something like:

Randolph and Crawford for Redd and Simmons bad contract.

They could then move Yi to the SF position which is more of what he plays anyway and use Crawford to replace Redd.

Supposedly they offered Redd for Randolph a couple of years ago and the Blazers turned them down. Now they can have him.

Bogut Gadzuric
Randolph Villanuava
Yi Mason
Crawford Bell
Williams Ivey

That seems pretty okay for them. It probably is not quite fair for them but they do get two useful players for one good player and one bad contract.

He wouldn't be a good fit here, we just need to rebuild through draft
