should have bough it through best buy, every couple of months i just bring mine in just because i want a new one. I tell them it has the RRoD and they don't even look at it, just let me go pick up a new one. I've also been able to smuggle 5 controllers out of this deal because sometimes i pick the boxes that have controllers in them too.

oh btw you need the best buy insurance also. I used to do this back in the day with CD players also, every couple of months i would just slam my CD player, bring it in and get a new one.

the new line of 360's have fixed this problem though. Anyone who says they got a new 360 and encountered this problem failed themself because they did not check when the 360 they bought was built. The problem with the RRoD was the fact that the fan couldn't work fast enough and some pieces weren't strong enough to withstand the heat so they would fry.

oh btw i will sell someone my 360 and warantee when the 360 ultimate comes out because i will be buying that anyway because i want the built in wifi and better fan like my PS3 has.

When is the 360 Ultimate coming out, and also how do you know which XBox you got is the better version? I got mine just last month so maybe it's the fixed one? Also, does the Best Buy thing work for the whole 2 years? So if you return one, get an extra controller, and get a new one, and then do it again, you wont have to pay 60 extra bucks, and you get three controllers? That's awesome.

the Ultimate is supposed to be announced at some convention thing this week.

If you got an Xbox very recently it should be a new version.

Microsoft isn't stupid, the only reason they extended the coverage is because they fixed the problem in their new models.

best buy is the only one you need, i am one of the few that abuse them in their insurance offerings since those insurance contracts are how Best Buy makes most of its money.

Don't worry about a thing. The exact same thing happened to me a month ago. Simply call the xbox hotline and tell them about the ring of death. They will have you perform some customary checks and then will take down your information and send you a box to send them your xbox to fix no questions asked. They will tell you it will take between 4-6 weeks to get it back but the day after I sent mine away I received a new one. Insert your hard drive and you are good to go. To top it all off, xbox gives you a month of free online play for your troubles.

btw, there's no XB Ultimate coming anytime soon. That show you're referring too, the Consumer Electronics Show, had no mention of any new X-Box coming anytime soon. -- It doesn't make sense to take out a BRAND new X-Box when the Elite version just came out a cpl months back.....

i will take that loss as long as MGS4 really does stay exclusive for the PS3, because if not then i paid 500 for a blu-ray player when i could get a far better blu-ray player for that price.

to prevent the red lights all you have to do is load your xbox up to the dashboard and give it a few minutes to warm up and then go to dashboard when your done and let it warm down.

and as far as sony taking care of it's customers that's bull. when the ps2 had the laser problems which happened just as often as the rings they told teh customers to suck off. if you used a non-sony controller, memory card or another accessory it automatically voided your warranty and they wouldn't be responsible for it breaking.

but unless you have tons of money (which is unlikely because you come off as uneducated) just send it off to microsoft. i believe it only takes 2-3 weeks.

umm.. the PS3 already is one of the 'higher' end BluRay players for the price.. and it's getting the BR 2.0 profile update as well.

With the replacement play you can exchange it as many times you want during the 1st year (manufacturer's warranty) at the store, and your warranty transfers over to the new unit each time. But, the 2nd year of your extended warranty, you are allowed only one exchange, and then must purchase a new warranty for that unit.

It's ALWAYS been like this @ the Best Buys I frquent around Miami.

PS3 has a lot of good games coming out, and not even MGS 3. By the time Final Fantasy 13 and God of war 3 come out, the PS3 will be on top again in the US. Its already doing good in Japan, and its monthly sales have beaten out the Wii there recently. All the Xbox 360 has is the US, and it doesn't have enough exclusives coming out to keep the market
