People here bash Isiah Thomas for all his quickie schemes but they want coanstant change and news themselves
By firing Jeff at the airport, the KNICKS knew for some time now they were in the market for a new coach. So, this is not some "surprise" search no one knew was coming. Additionally, NONE of the men they're interviewing are strangers to Mills/Perry. They know exactly who they are and what they can do.
Granted, this is an important decision -- but it's also just like free agency except for coaches. In free agency, if the BEST player is available and actually wants your team, you grab him. You don't wait several weeks to "see" who comes available and risk losing out on your guy. If the guy at the top of your wish list is there, you take him. If not, you grab the 2nd guy on your wish list.
I'm all for due diligence, but we're beyond that now. We don't need to add any more names to the search. To keep adding names means Mills/Perry either didn't do their advance homework or their dog-and-pony show is a stall. Soon, some of these names will no longer be available. Soon, we won't be able to afford to keep waiting. For that reason, they need to pull the trigger on the best guy by this week.
we have no reason to assume anyone is clear on the best name available like your free agency analogy
Bud is probably the best coach as a known commodity but just as much of an argument or more could be made for Blatt
and thats not including the exceptional young assistants who are in the mix. Or Smith for that matter.
I dont know who the best one is
its silly to assume anyone does at this point
which is why you do the interviews
