Also, the getting to know battle rappers...you're psychic or some ish, this just dropped on GT's site last night.

I did not know or see this until now good stuff

In attempts to help raise money i will be dontaing 50% of Shop.Okwerdz.com sales to Kool Herc, so if u need a shirt nows the time.

I REALLY respect this in light of the major cats talking about how they don't have as much money as we think and how they can't help. Okwerdz is a successful cat who battles only top cats and has turned profit as a musician, battle rapper, and business man. This could be a business move but if it means helping out one of the key figures of hip hop, who cares.

A lot of people in Hip-Hop don't even know who he is still, which is sad. That's cool what Ok is doing. Nate Dogg similar situation a few months back Warren G was begging for donations. You wish these guys used their financial resources to get excellent comprehensive indivi isurance coverage. Yes it's expensive doing this indie but the income made on an annual as an Entrepreneur should have made them come to reasonable conclusions .

For anyone that doesn't know about Copy, you gotta check this dude out.

His older stuff has a different style to it, more battle orientated, not sure which I like better, although I think I would have to lean towards "The High Exaulted".

RA the Rugged Man IMO has the greatest Flow of any rapper of all time. He is my number one guy that I don't want to hop on a record, because he will massacre anything.

I agree with you on Arcane though. The guy is garbage. He didnt deserve to beat Thesaurus. Pete bodied him. Arcane has such a vanilla flow. He is the Okwerdz of canada. But a lot less successful.

Bender IS a problem though. That was a classic performance put on by him. He just crushed Arcane. Though i do feel he robbed 24/7. Who is slept on big time by the way, but thats a different argument.

My favorite from Canada is Pat Stay. Dude is just nice. Too bad Arsonal got turned back at the border, because he was gonna get crushed. Again.

One of the best battles I've ever seen.

Right now KODT >>>> GT imho. GT hasn't been able to get the good match-ups and the good ones have been mainly pretty disappointing. KODT gets battles up at reasonable time lapses instead making us sit waiting forever, much less drama behind the scenes and they aren't losing their stars to URL...URL's guys are making moves toward KODT (Arsonal, Tez and Rex for instance). Plus the top notch KODT cats look like they're sticking around. Dumb is taking a break, Hollow/Con go both leagues, DNA/Tez are shaky with GT, Khan is taking a break, Saurus demands big bills to battle, Ok to URL next, DBD travelling the leagues of the world and ****...it's just a lot of these dudes disappearing. Rone seems to be getting a push with that 360 battle and Dirt is getting hype too...not many other up and comers in my eyes except maybe John John.

Pat Stay has huge hype right now and I still haven't checked for him much. I'll peep that video next but honestly, I can't stand Hollohan aka Canadian Diz. Jack Schitt, Sketch and Bender are all pretty nice. Kid Twist is no joke. Loe has bars when he can remember 'em. Charron is really the truth with rebuttals. Look up Amzilla vs Charron for their battle in the back of BOLA...that ish is crazy. Random freestyle battle out of the blue that just keeps going on and on while our favorite battle cats wander over to watch. Love that sorta ish.

24/7 is nice...not great...but really solid.

I think there are a couple reasons the battle scene is struggling right now.

One is that everyone is protecting their records majorly. Look at Conceited. Couple months ago he was making noise about how he wanted to battle Okwerdz. Now he won't because it will make him look bad for turning down Soul Khan and Hollow. And he won't accept Soul Khan and Hollow because they would both body him. Guys are turning down battles left and right because they don't want to talk an L. Even promo battles because its all about public perception.

Obviously another is that you eventually need a break from battles to focus on music. Nocando is on tour, Illmaculate is focusing on music, Soul Khan is also as you mentioned, Dumb is focusing on music, Locksmith is focusing on music, Hollow battles in both URL and GT but that doesnt really matter, I dont care where he battles as long as he does basically. But its like that saying in baseball, "No one grows up wanting to be a reliever." All of these cats want to make music, so they use GT and other leagues to get their name up and then drop CDs. Which is cool, Drect even admitted that that is what GT is for in the first place.

The last thing is no one wants to be on these lower tier events. There are what? 3 - 4 major events? MOB, BOLA, and Grizzlemania? NYC events are poorly put together sadly. Most of the time it looks like amateur hour. I mean hell, when was the last NYC event Hollow main evented? He only wants to be on the major events. Same with conceited, did he ever even headline a NYC event? Look at all the cats outside of GT that come to battle, what events are they on? Arsonal, T-Rex, Aye Verb, 360, Anecdote etc. etc. ALL they dudes went to a west coast event or Grizzlemania. You arent going to see a big name headline a GTGA event, and if you do it will be the only big name there. Same goes for all these other divisions. Everyone wants to be on the big events. So the rest of these other events are average at best. When BOLA4 happens, the battle scene will more than likely look good again for awhile. Then it will most likely fall off till the next KOTD event or the next URL event.

And yeah I agree 24/7 is nice. Not great, though his performance against QP is almost legendary. And he got robbed by both Caustic and Bender imo. And even 24/7 is on break, focusing on music.

Can never respect a man who rapes a woman. If those personal diggs are true (which Hollow didnt deny) then that man deserves every bad thing that happened and willl happen to him. What a pos. I'll never root for him after hearing that.

The protecting records thing is THE most frustrating thing in the game. Con talks about how Illmac gave him a shot off of a few bars he liked...but Con's too big for that apparently. Ok wouldn't battle Shotgun Suge (I think it was him) because he doesn't have enough twitter followers. This is why tournaments are REALLY important and should happen more often.

The music thing is fair to me. Lack of will to battle at small events makes sense too. The problem with GT is that BOLA wasn't all that great, it was a lot of disappointing performances and few surprises...mostly bad ones. The next card looks kinda weak, especially if DNA v Diz falls apart. That'd be a killer. Grizzle was the best event last year and Kap had a falling out with Drect after. Poison Pen hasn't done a good job of controlling the crowds in recent NY events, but he has at least gotten some good main events together.

BTW, I think the Draft league could potentially be the best of the smaller ones once it's established. Experienced battle rappers actually picking out emcees is a great way to ensure that these guys will at least be solid. I'm excited for that.

A lot of personals can be questioned in this game...Arcane claimed that Loe Pesci's sister had a restraining order against him for sexual abuse...That's about as low as it gets. Loe rebuttaled it in his next battle "He's just jealous my sister's alive" in reference to Arcane's dead sister...and I did not feel bad for him at all. The BEST personals rapper imho is Marvwon, check out how he did Aye Verb and Cortez...both times I felt his personals were brutal.

@J4remi, I made a few posts about him in the last thread haha. I think XV is very good. I'm not a fan of Travie McCoy, but Donnis and XV are two of my favorite rappers now. I actually might go to the concert in the city with a few of my friends as well.

Yeah, I'd really want to go check these guys in Philly. XV kind has a similar voice and inflection to Wiz but his content and flow are different. He could be pretty good although he's got that experimental style. Donnis, I'm not a huge fan of, but I think his music would make for a great live performance. I'm a huge Gym Class Heroes fan and I think Travie's solo album was pretty solid. It's not quite rap but some kind of related genre, like progressive rock rap.

I'm a fan of a lot of genres, though I'm a hip hop purist first...so I'm really going to this for Bad Rabbits more than anything and to check out Pete Wentz' new band, that girl has pipes. XV is like having a pleasant addition to the show. Rare you get such a well rounded tour for smaller venues.

Yeah BOLA 3 had some disappointing performances for sure. Also some classics though. Love him or hate him, Okwerdz gave Hollow a good battle, though Hollow clearly won. Real Deal and Saht had a nice battle, but Jin not coming through was a huge downer on the whole event. Did Dizaster and Illmac battle at BOLA 3? I forget which event that was.

BOLA 4 has some decent battles in place, but I have a feeling there are going to be some surprises also. No way do they put on an event with just 6 battles.

Yeah the NYC events are so disappointing crowd wise. I understand wanting the NY guys to win, but they blatantly disrespect the out of state battlers. NY guys get respect anywhere else they go, but NY fans dont repay the favor. And thats why they dont have a ton of out of state cats coming to battle there.

The Draft League is an interesting idea. I will definitely be checking it out. I hope it thrives, there has to be more talent out there.

BOLA 3 was just okay though...I think Madness vs Marvwon was at that one too, that was great. MOB followed it with nothing but one-sided battles besides Rone v Caustic. Everything else was pretty meh.

Now we got the next BOLA and DNA drops out with three days left. I sent QP much respect for taking an unlimited time battle with Diz three days out, and Diz is hunting around for a second opponent to make up for it...but THE reason to be at BOLA 4 is no longer happening. This is an example of GT falling off...their big event can't hold down battlers. How were these guys not signed to contracts weeks if not months ago?

NY is pretty bad with that, it's like Poison Pen just doesn't bother with the Respect Emcees concept. I just watched Jaz kill a chick in Queen of the Ring and when the crowd turned on that other chick, the hosts called them out and said "we don't do that." Kap, Syd and Lush all handle that too. I don't get why Pen doesn't...though he did step up going after the heckler in that one battle...it was one time. I will say that the Redbull Emsee battle saw a ton of bias for that Detroit cat and he wound up winning it all...DNA just walked away when the crowd clowned him. His other two battle clips, I didn't hear him say much and NoCan HAD to have quotables though they didn't show him in the reel I saw...so bias happens in battles, but controlling it at least to an extent is necessary.

I'm beginning to think KOTDC is gonna be the league to watch...these dudes can battle from their computers...and all they been doing is talkin' trash on Rap Music and Twitter...so maybe it'll work better for everyone
