Ouch. Well....she'll probably call you again (the first breakup rarely is "it" in any relationship), but it sounds like you've moved on. It's probably for the best. Even if she loses the weight she'll resent you for making her do that and not just loving her regardless of how she looks. No shortage of single women in NYC. Good luck to you.

This was over before you even posted the issue on realgm. How could anyone think this would go well? At least you were man enough to finally tell her and not stick around any further out of guilt. Not sure why you stressed it though, she ended it and you seem fine with it. Ah well life goes on. How about those Knicks?

That was mean considering you said you cared about her. You should have been honest and upfront with her instead of waiting to be in bed when she is at her most vulnerable and hurting her feelings like that. Did she really deserve to be treated like that? You have a right to feel as you do, but you could have let her down with more dignity. You could have stuck with the tried and true line of "it's not you it me," and moved on with your life.

This is re.t.ar.de.d. She needs to take responsibility for her fatness. If she gets hurt she gets hurt. She did it to herself. He tried to tell her to join the gym with him. He tried to give her hints like women do to men all the time and she choose to ignore them. F her and her feelings. She never thought of his feelings and how her fatness made him feel.

Straight up denial, and if she was so quick to call it quits without even getting to the root of the problem just because her ego got hurt then good riddance.

A chick like that who doesn't listen to reason is not worth it.

It's even worse is she is young and bordering on fat. If he's toeing the line between thick and fat as a young woman, the odds of her becoming fat are astronomical... when compared to the odds of her getting slimmer or maintaining at the same weight once he's in a steady relationship, gets married, and/or has kids. It's unlikely she has much work ethic when it comes to working out/exercising.

Is her mother heavy?

And lastly, how does someone gain 40 pounds in a single year? Was she pregnant?

That's interesting. Did she not know that gaining 40 lbs of fat in a year could maybe lead to people not finding her attractive?

Maybe if thought she found a non-superficial guy that LIKED fat women, seeing how you started going out with her when she was toeing "the line between thick and fat."

The split was probably best for both parties. You don't have to be with a woman you're not physically attracted to, and she can find that fat-girl-loving guy or she uses this as a wake up call and start eating better and exercising.

It all depends on the seriousness of the relationship. If it's serious and you think you could have a future with her, it's pretty messed up to leave cause she got big. It's shallow. I can imagine how some of the cats here would be whining and calling their GFs all sorts of names if they left them for the same reason. I don't think we have many Mr. Olympias on here, either.

If you really wanna get her to lose weight, have a competition with her. Whoever can more drastically improve their physique within a certain period of time gets to do whatever they want sexually with the other for the day, that should work well. At least, it did for me, and we were both already in good shape,

But it is what is. If you legitimately can't be with her if she's fat, you're both probably better off.
