Shump + Smith Brothers for Waiters and Tyler Zeller. Make it happen!

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10046 ... on-waiters

Irving called the meeting after the game, and every player spoke. When Waiters was given the floor, he criticized Thompson and Irving, accusing them of playing "buddy ball'' and often refusing to pass to him. Thompson took umbrage with Waiters' words and went back at him verbally. The two confronted each other, but teammates intervened before it could escalate into a fight.

However, Waiters and Irving are not close. Waiters believes the Cavaliers have a double standard when it comes to Irving, sources said. Waiters feels that while Irving is allowed to get away with loafing defensively, making turnovers and taking bad shots, he is taken out of games for such things. Waiters has shared his views with Brown and Grant.

This is the exact same situation that we're due for soon. JR Spliff is taking 13.6 FGA and shooting 32.1% from the field and yet Shumpert is the only one who Woodson has no problem calling out to the media.

Irving and Thompson vs Waiters, JR and Melo vs Shumpert and Amare. They're already making passive-agressive comments to the press. All it takes is another embarassing blowout.

I'd flip Shumpert for Waiters just for the simple fact that I think they both need a new start somewhere else. That & Waiters hasn't lost his confidence or "swag".

Also, Waiters has shown more potential at the 1 than Shump has. So why not chance it if it means no more Felton as our starting PG. Waiters rookie contract also stretches for 3 more years with is better than having Shump being a restricted FA in 2015.

If it ended up getting physical I'm taking Shumpert and Stoudemire.

Cavs give up Waiters, Varejao (who played like an allstar last year) and #1 pick for Shumpert and Gay? Pure gold

How big is he? He looks like he has enough handles and is fast enough to play PG at this level?

He's a better player than Shumpert. If the Cavs are offering we should take it no questions asked. This is coming from a Shumpert fan by the way.

He is flashing some really nice PG skills. Multiple times he has broken down the Heat defense and gotten into the paint. Needs to work on his jumper. Seems to have good form on his jumper needs to hit that on a more regular basis. I think he shows above average ability to be a point guard in this league. Does seem to be rattled when Wade is guarding him and wants to attack him on the dribble which looks like he has great confidence in his ability.

I would trade Shump for him and start him at PG.

Dude certainly has talent... and I'd guess long term will prob be better than shump.. at least offensively.

He's the kinda guy that looks good on someone elses team but if he's on yours you'll probably wind up hating him. Seeing him in interviews I already kinda hate him. Seems very cocky and plays that way too. Definitely a chucker... and undersized.. not sure about his defense but I could take a guess.

I think in a rebuild he makes sense or on a contender he makes sense... savior to the underachieving Knicks... ehhhhhhhhhhhhh

I like Waiters, don't know if he will help much because.. we can guess trades all day but our main problem is our coach, not really our players. There is no leadership and good coaching on this team.. the offensive and defensive philosophy on this team sucks... a good coach (Phil Jack, JVG) will have this team winning... THAT'S WHY WE ARE LOSING!

Waiters basically running point for Cleveland right now. When Irving is not in there Dion plays point as well. I really think he can play pg. Again, if Cleveland offered us Dion for Shump straight up, we'd be crazy not to do it. Id love to see us give Dion a chance at pg. Watch him attack the basket....and then look at our guards.

So you're calling my offer out when others in this thread literally said the same offer but as a 2 team deal & had Amar'e going to the Cavs instead of Rudy Gay? Rudy Gay at least fills a need at SF for them & keeps them competitive for this season & next. Rudy Gay expires same time as Bynum expires & Shump becomes a RFA.

The Cavs could prefer to send Bynum instead of Varejao but at the same time, Varejao hasn't played like an All-Star since returning from injury you genius.
Thus why they took a chance with Bynum.
Bennett was a 1st pick but sure as hell isn't playing like 1. Wasn't Thomas Robinson the 4th pick last year & is currently on his 3rd team?

Shumpert fills in for Waiters, who the Cavs have an eye on & can really prosper next to Irving. Rudy Gay fills in for Bennett & provides Kyrie with much needed help, especially offensively. Rudy Gay isn't a long term commitment either since he expires after next season.

Cavs aren't doing as good as they should be with this current group. Plus they keep their 1st rd picks.

I would do the deal if offered. Play him at PG. Watching him take in time and time again into the paint against the Heat defense is something this team is really lacking.

Waiters has game. He plays like a way slower version of Monta Ellis.
