All you have to do is realize Shumpert wouldn't even crack LA's rotation. This deal is a no-brainer. You ditch Felton's 2015 salary, you upgrade (yes, it's an upgrade) at PG and it looks like you'd be gaining Bullock or Dudley, two guys I'd rather have over either Felton OR Shumpert.

Shumpert's D will look better in a real defensive system like Doc's, not this switch-happy, non-rotating junk we have in NY.

But to me the kid is never going to be the same post-ACL injury. It's been almost two years now and he hasn't shown the flashes he showed as a rookie (outside of Game 6 vs Indy when he caught fire and the two games in Texas this year). I thought he had the chance to be a solid starter in this league but not anymore. He's a bench, 15-20 minute per game guy. Play D, finish in transition and rebound.

If it's a straight Collison-for-Shump deal then I wouldn't do it, there's no point. I haven't seen any of Bullock at the NBA level, I don't know if he has any potential at all but I know I was never that excited about him at UNC.

Collison/Bullock for Shump/Felton...I still don't know. I'd just stand pat for now, Shumpert has more upside and intrigue around the league than Collison obviously. If we move him then our only asset left is Timmy and we're not going to trade him unless we get a superstar back.

If Shump has more intrigue and upside around the league then Collison, why have we not been able to get a good deal for him? He's a very very bad player right now. He's injury prone, he hasn't gotten better in 3 years and he's clearly a mentally weak guy. What team is knocking down our doors to get him? People have to stop pretending like Shump has value. That's long gone and it was evident when Denver wouldn't take him for Faried, straight up.

Bullock is what sales this trade to me. I would do it. We get rid of feltons contract and get a prospect back.

For all the people saying we can get a better deal for Shump need to realize that Clippers are holding this deal up because they don't want to give up Reggie Bullock. The Small forward with the PER of 7.5. This is as good as it gets. We get an upgrade at PG (I know verrrry slight) and a young prospect in Bullock. Plus we save cap space. This is a no brainer trade

Collison's contract does end in 2015 I believe so that is a nice bonus but if you are looking to get a much better PG then I don't know. Collison is more of an off the bench type player but as a starter you absolutely need a coach who will run a PG driven system sort of like what he had in NOLA when Paul went down. interesting trade though, i'd probably do it to get rid of Felton and have cap space in 2015, though the whole Melo factor plays a huge role in the decision.

Idk if i would do this but in terms of 2015 plans, it helps because Felton cut 4 mil into our plan, Iman would probably cut in another 4 mil if we give him qualifying offer or extend him (might be even more depending on how he does next year). That's 8 mil extra that summer, pretty solid.

C'mon, it's not even close. Both players suck but Collison "is what he is" while Shumpert still has room to grow - though I agree that it' doesn't appear to be that much space. Collison has been through four teams in five years as a pro - different systems, different coaches and no one wants the guy around very long.

Shumpert has been in one system under one coach, a mess of a system at that, and is still cheap making him virtually risk-free to acquire. Don't think other teams don't realize how awful a situation Shump is in defensively.

Its been said before but we cant blame Woodson for Shump's struggles when Tim Jr is doing work out there as a rookie. He's in the same boat as Iman yet he finds a way to hit shots, run the break when possible, finish at the rim, not be completely invisible, etc. Iman could turn it around sure but I've seen no improvement in his actual basketball skills besides his shooting, which seems to be regressing anyway along with every other aspect of his game. If Bullock can be a decent 3 and D guy, while actually being a real SF which is something we need, then you take this deal and run. It's the best we're going to do most likely.

maybe this isn't about shump but about felton and his salary.

On October 18, 2007, he committed to play for Georgia Tech.[3] During the 2008-09 NCAA men's basketball season, he was GT's fourth-leading scorer for the season, averaging 10.5 points per game and hitting 34.5 percent of his three-point attempts. During the 2009-10 season, Shumpert underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a damaged meniscus in his right knee on Dec. 3, and missed six games. He ended up the season as GT's third leading scorer, with 10.0 ppg. He was also second in the ACC in steals.

When shump went down in the playoffs that wasn't the first time he had to overcome a knee injury and knee surgery...
Shump will be back and if he goes to doc...woodson will be exposed to those who see differently now...

Agreed. Makes no sense to reject if bullock is involved and we get rid of Felton. Would be an excellent deal.
