I think all you're going to get from Melo anymore are flashes of the brilliance he's shown in the past. Sort of like what we saw sporadically through Jan/Feb (IIRC on the months) this last season where he got really hot offensively. Too many miles on him and it's obvious when you see how hard he struggles to finish in the paint. Not everyone is a genetic freak like Lebron.

He can definitely provide value to a contending team that's built correctly. He'll need others to cover his rapidly diminishing defensive efforts and with a smaller role on offense he may be able to become somewhat more consistent than what we saw last season. However that's exactly why I wouldn't lament anything. That's obviously not going to happen any time soon here so I'd be happy for him if he was able to get one last hurrah and resurrect a bit of his former prestige on a team that meshes with his career's timetable.

i disagree

He needs players that compliment him

which is why every olympics he looks so much better

when he's not the only option on offense and the total focus of the defense he's able to be much more effective

when he's got a playmaker and a rim protector he's vastly more efficient on both ends

in Clipperland he will thrive
in Boston he might struggle to find his role
in Clev he will destroy

Melo can pretty much do everything Love is doing for Cleveland with the added ability to take over a game. Boston and Cleveland were dumb not to take a chance during the trade deadline.

Let's not act like Melo's a bum. His time in NY is over mainly because he's not a #1 option anymore. As #2 or 3 he would be extemely effective. I think after getting smoked by the Warriors, LeBron will find a way to get him to Cleveland.

Hopefully. He's got to figure out some way to improve that team unless he wants to get 3-4 more finals Ls on his record. Maybe he'll throw a series before the finals next year to avoid the embarrassment

i showed a three way trade with Detroit that went a long way to making it attractive to all teams and has Clev giving up very little to add melo to their core

Thompson, Love, Melo, LBJ and Kyrie is a killer team

they would need to fill out their bench with ring chasers like they did this year already but guys like Frye and Smith to Det have us getting the #12 and Johnson back

anyway I don't care anymore where he goes and how it goes for the new team
they can win a title or fall short
whatever

I just want this team to benefit from the trade

the clips will certainly be trying to get him this summer again in order to keep their core together as well

his time in NY is over largely because Phil has failed to build around him and wants to take that magnifying glass off his time here

without Melo he can call the record irrelevant

but with melo here he's adding vets and still failing to produce results and the blame falls on him eventually

You can't build around a 2nd or 3rd tier player expecting 1st tier results. The only way Melo could have been successful here is to place a player that is better than him along with a good core. If Chris Paul came here this upcoming offseason, sure they'd make the playoffs. CP3 is a better player. Add Rubio and they will not.

But neither happened, although I do think Amare in 2011 was the better player, but was bound to have a short productive time here.

Melo can't get 21 rebounds. He can iso better than Love, but they need the rebounding more. Cleveland already has an iso ball hog with with Kyrie. Getting another one is redundant, but I hope they do it anyway.

The more I think about it, I doubt Melo even wants to play with LeBron. LeBron is too alpha and has too much power in Cleveland. Melo will wind up getting his feelings hurt. Michelle Roberts and Kenyon Martin might have to step in and mediate.

That's childish

If anything melo probably sees himself as the counter move to gs getting Durant

Stop the fantasy that melo is some diva. He's never been that.

Hi guys from a Lakers fan. STOP THROWING BRICKS (noah)

Anyway. Since Clarkson has been a target of rumours that he will get booted from the Staples Center I was thinking where could he land.

And since I really love Melo I really want him in purple and gold.

So...this is my proposal. LAL: Clarkson, Deng (for salary cap purposes), 28th pick, NYK: Melo.

Please post constructive feedback.

*please do note that I come in peace.

Doubt Melo goes to the Lakers, basically Knicks 2.0 currently.
Not interested in a contract that lasts longer than Melo's current deal
28th pick/Clarkson isn't really doing much for us IMO.

I would be OK with this trade if Deng wasn't involved.

The salary doesn't match up if Deng is not included. You always dump him to a 3rd team but who is willing to take on Deng without any additional incentive?
