Bucks and Warriors were bad defensive efforts. Or good teams. You be the judge. Imo, the defense is about what could be expected with a bunch of young guys + vets that aren't particularly good defensively.

The Knicks are 10th in ppg allowed but pace is slow - 26th in the league.

Still early and so much oscillation statistically because IIRC we were near the top in pace the first few games

Gaines is biased he drafted Dot. Too early to call Mario a bust. He had a strong second half of the year in orlando. Let's see what fiz can get out of him.

He's obviously going to be biased and it's still early, sure, but take a look at the track record for 1st round picks who didn't have their rookie team options picked up. It's not a pretty sight.

Can't name anyone off the top of my head but I'm sure there has been a success story or 2. It's just that the vast majority of these guys end up being career journeyman.

Since this thread has been bumped, we are now 19th in DRTG, as an update

if we really track it for the whole season, this thread could get depressing.

Actually, I think it'll stay about there. Maybe get into the low 20s, but I don't think we're gonna be one of the worst defensive teams in the league overall just cause Fiz has them playing hard on that end, even the bad defenders (for the most part)

We actually play at a pretty slow pace, too. Like, our DRTG is 19th but we're top 10 in opponent ppg

Yeah those teams at the bottom are legit some of the worst defensive teams I've ever seen. We won't be worse than the Cavs or bulls. I'll give the SPurs the benefit of the doubt until the New Year. Pop will figure it out to get them to at least respectable.

Yeah Vonleh and Robinson are a very good defensive frontcourt. (We talked about this in preseason I believe.) Combine that with the effort that Frank and Dotson bring on a consistent basis and you have a recipe for a good unit on D.

i don't know that this lineup is staying. he talked about giving it 5 games recently. he talked about mudiay getting his chance at starting at some point. it seems hopeful to think this is it for the year.

This whole position less basketball gimmick is gonna blow up in Fizdale's face. You can't have guys playing out of position and they aren't rebounding or playing defense. I told you guys all that stuff would only sound good in the off season. But you all drank the kool aid anyway.

This is a thread about how Knicks are 5th D in the league. Knicks are 9th in the league rebounding so not sure what the point of this post is right now.

We just can't score yet It's coming though with KP returning, Knox maturing, and good ol' Player X in the lotto.

I think Shammy & a few others have mentioned how Coach Fizzles starts the kids but gives them bench minutes.

You can’t cheat development.

This is further proof the Knicks Front Office is hoping to have it both ways, maybe Coach gets them within a prayer of a playoff spot before KP comes back.

The end result is another middle pick, not high enough to get an impact player but just enough for the Knicks to draft another guy who might be good.

How much does it suck for the "cheat development" narrative that Dotson gets the 2nd most minutes on the team, Frank 4th, Zo 5th, Vonleh 6th, and that Mitch is getting almost 20 min a game when quite a few of us expected him to need GL time?

the positionless basketball thing is more of an individual development direction for this particular season. They are envisinoing each player's role in a future team where they'll be effective in a position flexible way.

this team is obviously not going to play positionless basketball because the talent isn't mature enough/not there, but it's a direction they want to develop these guys towards.
