I wouldn't be at all surprised if, after workouts and interviews, Barrett goes to Memphis.

Because ESPN & other media outlets are calling Ja transcendent right behind Zion & hardly mentioning RJ there. You add in the fact that the Grizzlies almost traded Conley at the deadline and pairing an electric PG with Jaren Jackson makes sense.

Also, Knicks set up a meeting with RJ for tomorrow.

Plus, Barrett played like crap in the Tournament. Unlike Hunter who had a solid tourney.

RJ averaged 20.3 8 and 6 in the tournament, it’s solid numbers. Hunter is 2 years older and averaged 15.8 5.3 and 1.2. I didn’t think Hunter played well at all up until the championship game where to his credit he rose to the occasion.

The only decision we'd need to make, assuming both KD and Kyrie are on board, is do we package Mitch in an AD trade or the Mavs pick(s). We'd be a playoff team so our pick means nothing. Do we put our faith in Mitchell Robinson OR KP bringing about the immediate demise of the Mavericks franchise? That's our choices this offseason.
I am surprised that people on this board are unwilling to give up Mitch for AD. wow, just wow. If we had a chance to get KD, Ki and AD while giving up No 3, 2 Dallas picks, Knox, DSJ, Frank and Mitch, we should be ecstatic.

That's way too much to give up for 1 player its not worth it and expectation would be if that trade did happen they would have to get a championship there first year kd , kyrie, and ad.

By my count that could end up being 6 top 10 draft picks (perhaps even a couple top 5 picks!) and a 2nd rd pick that in any redraft would have been a top 5 pick, for a soon to be UFA. Take that haul and add it to NO's own probable high selections over the next two years and they'd have a motherlode of picks to build around their new star. Maybe we could trade them KD in two years :D

If Zion EVER won a championship in New Orleans it'd largely be on the backs on what the Knicks gave New Orleans when NO was desperate and had zero leverage!

There would be a certain poetry to that.

If RJ can't develop defense/jumper, he's not gonna do much if KD is really coming here. He's gonna feel like Terry Rozier on a team with Kyrie Irving.

But I’m good with trying for AD

I think Memphis trades down if they don't want to take Ja. I feel like a few teams want Ja or RJ and will offer up a lot for the 2nd pick, even a swap. Then we take whoever of the 2 falls to 3.

At the end of the day these are 18-20 year old kids. It’s certainly not an exact science, and not something anyone should get worked up over.

Going into the year Barrett was the #1 guy and ended up being the second banana on his own college team. Not an easy transition for someone who was used to being the man his entire career. Perhaps coming into the league with a chip on his shoulder will serve him well.

Also who knows if Barrett is even the guy? The Knicks meeting will Barrett is a non story-they will probably meet with ten different guys over the next few months.

Sure, NO would LOVE to do that deal. They get RJ & Mitch, and some FRP, DS Jr, and Knox.

They can use all that to build around the guy NY wanted to build around.

For that you get to pay Anthony Davis a max contract (even though he's often injured) in a quest to win a ring within 3 years.

If you fail to win a ring in that time frame you're back on the rebuilding treadmill in 4 years looking up at New Orleans (or Seattle) winning games with a young core while wondering why the Knicks can never do something like that.

Its nothing personal Truth. I'm just bitter that after 40 years of futility our fanbase still looks for a quick fix (...because we're NY and we have to win RIGHT NOW!) that has repeatedly failed this franchise every time they've tried it.
If kd and kyrie sign we are on the same clock anyway.

In the six games after Zion went down with injury towards the end of Duke's regular season (including the initial game, since Zion only played 1 minute before leaving) RJ averaged 26.2 ppg, 8.2 Reb, 5.2 assists, on 54/24/58 shooting.

Make of that what you will, I suppose

Most of us are okay with the 3rd pick because of math.

We were more likely to pick 4 or 5 than top 3. We beat the odds and got a stud in a 3 man draft.

after watching knox and trier, then watching mitch, dotson, and allen, please give me someone who puts defense first, and has a BBALLIQ higher than 80.

KD/Knox
Zion

Fill in whatever you need. Maybe keep DJ somehow.

Now...whatever. I don't care what they do really. I see them going all in and leaving the cupboard bare when it fails. I hope I'm wrong but...after realizing I was a fool for getting my hopes up...I just don't have the energy to be excited about the 3rd pick at all.

My positives...Cleveland/Chicago/Phoenix got hosed and the Dallas pick going to Atlanta.

Shouldn’t have put all your eggs in a 14% basket.

There was no other basket to put them in.

only benefit of the lotto change for us is that the ‘21 mavs pick becomes more interesting. otherwise tanking is dead and these people fawning over next year’s draft need to get over it.

Why are ppl so unhappy we never even got top 3 pick before rule changed at least be happy we didn't fall out of top 3 and Knicks were going to lose games anyway because their roster is pure trash.
