He’s the least reliable source that ever existed. You can almost guarantee the opposite of whatever he says will happen

Ha. Ok, good to know, thanks.

Well, we should get to find out whether the Knicks know how to develop drafted talent because Grimes is probably getting sent packing in a trade soon. If RJ and IQ are qualify as evidence, then Grimes probably has a good future in the league.

If we trade them away and they go on to become successful, that says we suck at developing talent because we let them go too soon.

Your conspiracy that Dolan is purposely sabotaging his own draft picks is so completely ridiculous I'm not sure where to begin with that. There's no evidence especially since Porzingis became an allstar here.

You mean the guy who was handed a multi-billion dollar business without having to work for it? Oh sorry, you’re totally right and he’s exactly the kinda guy who has the patience to wait for draft picks to develop.

It’s not a conspiracy theory to say the Knicks don’t care about the draft. It’s just plain history. Watch them trade out or trade back every single one of those 7 upcoming FRPs. Or is that a conspiracy too?

You are saying Dolan is personally trying to stop draft picks from turning into superstars which makes no sense. KP was an allstar, RJ,Obi, Frank were not good enough its as simple as that.

He didn't say that they sabotage them. I don't see that anywhere. We have not prioritized drafting stars or developing our own players long enough to find out what they become. Are we rewriting history here? Name a player we drafted that wasn't eventually traded for someone else's players. Name the list of drafted players we have signed to second contracts and didn't trade them away. I will do it for you. Patrick Ewing and that was 15 years before Dolan took over.

The Knicks have used the draft for trade chips for decades. That's just a fact.

Do you want to bring RJ, Obi and Frank back and wait another 5 years to see if they become stars? Remember we did that with Timmy and everyone hated it. oh that was different I guess.

I dont know what you and cgmw want...to bring back IQ and RJ for OG and keep waiting again. Why?

Do you want to keep making things up that no one said? If we were committed to the draft wouldn't we tank when 20 out of the last 24 seasons were over in December instead of trying to win with vet players over the kids we do draft? This team uses the draft for trade chips 98% of the time. We don't scout well enough because who cares? We traded away our picks like candy until PHIL stopped doing it a few years ago. We tanked TWICE when our seasons fell apart and that was KP/RJ. We have not drafted a superstar in 38 years!! We didn't re sign ANYONE we drafted for DECADES.

The plan has been trade everything for a star and all of those trades failed in the end because we didn't have enough to build around them or we trade for an injury risk who got injured.

. Look around the league the last 2+ decades at players and picks we traded away that ended up being good to great players. There's a nice list of them. The draft has not been used to get us a superstar in forever. They tried twice during DECADES of being the worst team in the league. Couldn't keep KP and traded away RJ after 4 seasons...and we were trying to trade him the year before.

I mean the team is pretty good right now so what do you want them to do about draft busts and tanking? RJ is not a star and they did the right thing trading him for OG.

I'm enjoying the team if you want to be miserable about the last 30 years...ok?

You are gonna keep lying and making shyt up? The simple fact that the Knicks haven't focused on the draft for decades CANNOT be denied. Yet here you are. THIS FO finally made something out of the draft...they didn't use it to DRAFT a star player. They TRADED away everyone we did draft recently and STILL didn't get a superstar player. They literally just traded lottery picks TWICE IN ONE DRAFT FOR FUTURE PICKS TO THROW IN A TRADE. WTF are you going to keep making shyt up for? Oh I know...because you are wrong and won't admit it.

I happen to one of the VERY FEW on this board who have been saying we have good team for over a year. Stop lying bro. you were wrong.

Pretty much this.

I don’t want to “bring back RJ.” What I would have wanted back then was for the Knicks to have signed a guy like Rubio instead of Randle the year they got RJ. I would have liked them to take multiple shots at the top of the draft to go for franchise-level talent.

Anyway, I’m good with Leon finally growing a pair and trading away all the homegrown kids he (and his petulant impatient boss) never wanted in the first place. My beef was—pick a direction. I was getting tired of rooting for players I was 100% sure were getting traded.

Idk what you do for a living, but how would your job performance be if you knew with 100% certainty that your boss didn’t want you there and was only propping you up to dump you? Any future pick we make should realize that the odds of their career taking off and sticking with the Knicks are virtually zero.

Read every post you made in this discussion. YOU sent it off the rails by making shyt up...AKA LYING...about what was said or what ACTUALLY happened with the Knicks in the draft for the last two plus decades. You didn't in every post. Read the last sentence in this post. I never said anything remotely like that.

If you feel the need to lie in every post go bother someone else bro. You were wrong in e very single post and I already served you multiple Ls in response. Enjoy your night.

JB— I said it back in RJ’s rookie year that if I was Rowan Sr. I’d be working back channels to get my son off Julius Randle and Tom Thibs’ team ASAP. “Poison” is a strong word, but to bring it back on topic I don’t think they’re doing Grimes any favors by requiring him to play in a 4-out iso offense with no movement when he is never the iso man. They drafted him, Mitch and Quickley to serve specific roles that they will never get the chance to break out of.

The common denominator is always outside veterans being brought in to play the same role or more prominent role than our own draft picks. Why? Because Jim Dolan has no patience and must “win now” even though he just spent two decades as the losingest owner in the sport.

I’m actually happy rn because at least they learned to leverage the draft to build their damn all-vet playoff team. I don’t see any path to title contention on the horizon using this strategy but at least we’re not trading Nene for McDyess anymore.
