He's shooting 61% on freethrows, he probably can't make them and is afraid to get fouled.

Defense

I assumed there would be an adjustment on offense

His defense has been complete garbage. Technically, effort, all of it

Do we really have the players to be an amazing offensive team unless they are all shooting lights out? Mikal has been terrible, OG is either good or bad, Hart is shaky. Brunson and Towns are the only two that can create for themselves. Its not really a Ferrari offense.

Jeffries played defense.

I'd like to think of Mikal more like a poor man's Lance Thomas.

He too, tried on defense

Facts

And that's why Mikal is a "poor man's" lance Thomas. He doesn't even try.

Mikal completely wilted under expectations that come with being traded for 5 picks.

He's not built for NYC.

Another good win for the Knicks in a tough situation. Early start after a holiday. The Hornets were missing a few key pieces to their team but their new coach has them competing at a high level every game.

Brunson with another MVP performance. KAT contributed in multiple ways. Hart doing Hart things. The bench brought good energy. OG and Mikal will bounce back. They are too good not to. Thibs showing why we should never doubt him and consistently finding a ways to win. Once Precious and Mitch return along with the chemistry being built this team is going to be unstoppable and the future looks great with young guys like Pacome, Tyler and Huk waiting in the wings.

Also I didn't see a single minute of the game. How was the score 99-98 against the roster the Hornets trotted out with our starters playing heavy minutes? I can't really understand what is happening with this roster most nights.

Deuce is ready to average 20 PPG as a starter. His shot is usually money

Sucks having expectations for this team cause when they play bad it makes watching other games unenjoyable.

Thibs really doesn't put Mikal in the best position to succeed either. His mid is wet and he doesn't run any plays for him curling off a screen or anything to the middle. It's either three pointer or post up. He even has OG posting up when he has zero dribbling skills or post moves. Just have a free offense with JB/KAT running points and the wings slashing and moving without the ball.

But in all honesty Mikal would be much better off in the 2nd unit. He just doesn't have a defined role with the starters and his defense is really overrated.

Think we were counting on mikal being a #2 in a 3rd option role. Someone who could create some and hit 3s at a high rate. With him now being unplayable it has kinda nerfed the offense a lil.

Don't know what's going on with him but hopefully he can get it going soon.

When he was just a role player, you overlooked the inconsistency. When he’s hot he’s great and when he’s not he’s just a role player.

When you pay a superstar price for him, there is pressure.

It’s still early, but early returns have this being one of the worst trades in NBA history. And even if Mikal reverts to his standard form - good defender and above average 3 point shooter - he will never be worth the price to acquire him.

But dreams of him being a poor man’s Jaylen Brown should be over. This isn’t all star level player.

Our offense is working on strictly talent, there's no imagination to anything we run. I posted these GIFs before, but when have you ever seen us run action for KAT like this?

There was another play they run with Lauri where he starts near the corner and runs an angle screen for the ball handler then slips it and shoots.

All the stuff we do is basic, it's screen for Brunson by KAT and maybe he pops or drives, but it's always at the top of the key.

The Cavs have 10 players AVERAGING at least 19 minutes per game.

The idea that Thibs' lack of minutes distribution is due to injury, talent, or anything other than his own maniacal preference is either regurgitated propaganda or just pure gaslighting.

Dadiet has a positive net rating on the season so far. Gotta fight the propaganda.

At least I won't feel bad when Knicks let another Villanovan go when Mikal gets traded eventually

Knicks thought Mikal would be the ultimate Nova glue guy. Turned out they traded that Nova guy to Minnesota.
