Sometimes you have to win ugly. I’d rather win ugly than lose playing great.

Knicks have the 4th least amount of losses in the NBA right now. You'd never know going by how people act on here

We really need to manage expectations better. The team was missing two starters and won, now holding the 4th best record in the league. Hard to accept this continued underperformance.

Who's expectations do we have to manage? People who think we can't win with two All Star/MVP candidates? I think they've given up already. Or should we manage the expectations of people who are happy to root for a top 4 team in the entire league? Let's keep pissing in their oatmeal every morning!!! Fuq those homers!! What is wrong with people? You can't enjoy anything around here!

How do you underperform getting a win without 2 starters? They won the game FFS. The fact that they won with Mikal/KAT Going 2-16 in the first quarter plus while not having 2 starters is actually a good thing.

CALM DOWN PEOPLE!! YOU'RE ONLY ROOTING FOR ONE OF THE BEST TEAMS IN THE NBA!!! :banghead:

Ummm...we have done that quite often this season. Cleveland struggled against BKN last night until the end of the game when BKN went cold. A win is a win. ATL has beaten the best teams in three league this year. Where are they going? The play in. Everyone can predict the future around here with absolute certainty but, no one has the winning lotto tickets. It's all BS.

There are 27 games left. We are not that far off but, everyone wants to shyt on what's going on around here. People talking about trading KAT after 4 months. People talking about Mikal/Hart after 5 preseason games. People complain about every fuggin thing and everyone on this team and we are TOP FOUR IN THE LEAGUE!!

I have been complaining about the HC all year. That's where I think we fall short against most teams(not just the top 3) but, we are STILL top 4 in the league. I have the common sense to calm down some to wait and see what we look like fully healthy.

I want the ECF at least. I want the team fully healthy come playoff time. If we can't accomplish those two things because of overuse injuries and bad coaching... Then I want Thibs fired. Other than that, I love this team and have the common sense to appreciate what's really going on here. Winning. It feels really good knowing we can win every night. I don't care who we play.

And having a coach who overplays his starters, has difficulty developing his rookies and does not have a game plan to defend the perimeter in a league that heavily relies on 3 pointers is enough for me to be convinced that this season might not be it.

Teams like the Celtics and OKC laugh at the way the Knicks play under Thibs, while teams like the Bulls and Hawks are not fooled by what our record looks like.

If anyone who doesn’t watch the games opened up the Daily News sports column and saw the standings they’d put this team on par with the ‘73 Knicks, but if they actually saw how many times we’ve played down to the level of our competition or how we’ve had no answer to the teams with better records than ours they’d have a different opinion.

You're not talking to someone who reads the Daily News to form his opinion. You're not talking to someone who thinks we will win it all this season. You're talking to someone who has watched 90% of the games this year and who knows what the biggest weakness of this team is.

That doesn't negate the fact that we are a top 4 team in the league. That doesn't mean we can't improve with everyone healthy. That doesn't guarantee we can't get hot at the right time and make a run to the finals.

Like I said, ATL has beaten the best teams in the league multiple times. They are in the play in and not even .500 team. So that destroys the idea that a more talented team can't win against them. It's just nonsense.

Do we need better coaching? Absolutely. Do we need to see how the team performs with Mitch in the lineup? Uhh...yeah. Would we need to make the playoffs fully healthy for us to have a chance to win it all? Absolutely. Until those things happen...or not...no one can honestly predict how far this team goes. No one.

It's ridiculous to read how bad a top 4 team in the league is every single day. You're literally in here talking to me like I shouldn't be happy or have any hope at all that we can win. We have plenty of talent. We have to see if that talent can put it together in the next few months. Period. Did I say we will win it all? Not once. Am I confident we will win it all? Not yet but, that's why I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.

I'm not the one in here coming to conclusions with absolute certainty. I'm the one with a wait and see approach even though I do not think the HC can ever get us to the finals. Anything is possible. That's the truth of it all. I could be dead wrong about Thibs. I'm willing to admit that. Everyone else is acting like they are dead right about things that they can't possibly know yet. There's a huge difference. If they(not you) feel like that, then stop watching and go away. What's the point?

Thibodeau seems to utilize the switching defense as a concession rather than a staple of the defensive system. It is unfortunate because right now he has better personnel for switching then he does for the drop defense that looks like absolute crap against the three pointer.

No question, he is not maximazing our defensive talent. Mitch can save Thibs from himself because with Mitch (if he is 75% or better of his former self) our drop defense should work much better. Players will not over commit to sagging in and protecting the paint with Mitch back there and therefore the perimeter D in theory should finally be tighter. It ahould look more like the dominant stretches of D we had last year when we went 20-5 when we got OG and we still had 1 of Mitch or Ihart at the 5.

Thats the hope anyways. I guess we will see how it shakes out.

I mean Thibs is not a perfect coach by any means but he definitely isnt a terrible one either. He gets the players to play hard every night and bring tremendous energy even if the system (right now) isnt the best. He is very much a Tom Coughlin type coach. Coughlin had some Xs and Os thst drove you crazy but the team played hard almsot every game and there was no quit. Are there better coaches than Tom ? Absolutely, but you could do a lot worse than him as well.

I'm just trying to be a realist. We can rehash the HC flaws and watch his lawyers come in here and defend him using zero facts if we choose. I'm not that stupid. What we can't do or, more to the point shouldn't do, is act as if we know what the future holds. Opinions on things are cool. People just need to realize that opinions aren't facts... (except when I'm giving them! )... And the future is uncertain.

Perfect example would be last year's finals run by Boston. Every team they played was either without their best players or their best players were injured for the playoffs. They faced Indiana because we were injured and I think Haliburton was dealing with injuries too.

Anything is possible. Period.
