Something this team really has to think about is whether they can be a contender while having 2 negative defenders in the starting lineup with JB and Towns. You can see the difference it makes having Deuce in the starting lineup on the defensive end over JB. I don't want to trade Brunson, so what do we do?

You trade KAT. Hart goes to the bench. You bring in a modern coach (Bryant or Hurley?) and you see the team make a Cleveland like jump next season.

Trade Brunson, Trade KAT, Trade Hart, Trade Mikal, fire Thibs

that is the ultimate long term conundrum. does playing Kat at the 4 next to a defensive big help? probably but also hurts the offense a lot too. you see it with the bench lineup also when JB sits, the defense is a lot better even with Kat at the 5.

No matter what they won't be able to escape the pick and roll between JB and Town's men. You can make up for 1 bad defender but not 2.

true but in that scenario you still have a defensive big to rotate to protect the rim - from that point it's a scramble and could still lead to open 3s - but with Kat at the 5 it's certainly worse. or maybe you're more apt to switch it?

The problem is the breakdown from the rotation. It's easy to get the Knicks defense out of position from the pick and roll as long as you keep the ball movement. Corner defender will always leak in to help leaving a shooter open.

If we played the Kings every night we'd be world beaters. Instead we're just creamed corn.

I really enjoyed that 3 man pick and roll/blind pig action where Deuce would come off KAT hit Hart and Hart would hit the rolling KAT. Generated two fouls.

He played very few minutes at the end of the 4th with the bum squad. Put him out there with the starters and I'm sure he'll look better.

Also OG is amazing!!

Mitch looked super spry but his timing isn't back yet. He skied for a goal tend one play and clobbered DeRozan on a block on another play. Box score shows negative stats. Real life shows intimidation and a player who's not quite back yet.

OG looked like he was about to fall down by the end. He killed it.

Thanks for the insight! Hopefully Mitch can be ready to start by the post season

mitch isn't back to being mitch yet - but he is definitely a presence out there.

OG is dominating on the defensive end right now. hopefully we can come off his mins a lil cause he is going to be a huge difference in the playoffs.

also, you know how i feel about mikal, but he did a really good job on Lavine who has been killing it lately. he was fighting over screens and busting his @ss to make life hard for on him. And on offense they had him in motion to get him going to the bucket which he didn't shy away from. now this is against the kings who are horrendous on defense but i'll take any aggresion from mikal on offense right now. hope he keeps this sht up cause we need him to not be a lil btch.

idk, it's nice that nodope has a voice on the bench yelling "shoot that mf" at jHart.

So we're excited the impact Tuck had on Josh

Wait until he impacts Mikal

I think Mikal is a free spirit like Steph is... they just wanna play carefree without having to worry about being a tough guy to protect themselves, that's why Dray has had immense impact on Steph's career imo he allows Steph to just play without worrying about the extra stuff

Hopefully Tuck stays for the rest of the season

Yeah, he's averaging what, 7 assists per game? But could probably average 9 if he focused more on that.

Ita not about the assists, but just letting others make plays and have early touches with the ball. Because if it was with him, he would just eat up the clock doing all his moves. Not surprising that others would be disinterested with the offense, which can also translate to nonchalance in defense

That's debable IMO because I do think Brunson can adapt .... but regardless ,teammates being empowered to play make more or Brunson becoming less "sticky" and more assist focused ...I'll take either or both.

PJ Tucker is now the de facto coach. Thibs is just the mascot now.

Have to tip my hat to PJ, he ran a fluid offense last night. Ol' boy is going to have this offense humming like the D'antoni Suns.
