Re: Breaking: Tom Fired
This is a great day for the Knicks.
Tom - I respect the hell out of him and always liked his hard nosed style but he simply is not good enough to take the team to the next level.
Let's find that guy to do it for us.

I don't think you watched the same series as everyone else has.
His rotations are stupid, and he went to the bench too late (during Game 3 of the conference finals)
Ridiculous to think the KAT/Brunson pairing wasn't working because it was flawed. No, it wasn't working because our opponents were sticking their center on a non-shooter, when the evidence says you need 5 shooters to work a true 5-out offense.
@snadler, i love thibs too. but as I've always said, he's accountable for the results. there were a few times in that pacers series i finally thought he might have done enough to lose the job. didn't want to see it, but i get it.
RIP magnumt

At least it does show that nepotism isn't at the forefront here.

nba player after nba player stated that the Knicks lost that series because of Thibs and I agree with them. It was pretty obvious. Carlisle ran circles around him. 9 point lead with 54 second in a very import game one of the ECF. Thats on Thibs. Just one example.
And you can check my post history- I have always supported Thibs and hoped that he would change and evolve.

Re: Breaking: Tom Fired
very surprising. until like yesterday everything indicated hes gonna stay.
But also very excited what a new coach can do with this offense. assuming KAT is staying. there is no reason the pacers should look better on offense than we do. we have 2 legit top 15-20 playerrs and capable players around them. Also, Mikal looked way better in phoenix, we need that guy back. hopefully new coach can unlock these guys.
defense will still be suspect with KAT and Brunson on the court, i think no coach can fix that. but if we match up differently and we can hide KAT in some way, there still a chance to win big next year.

This! He deserves our thanks and admiration for quality 5 years but as I said in the Indy series, it's unlikely that he's the guy to put us over the top. Just to many blunders, to much stubbornness, running players into the ground, developing no one.

He was fired the minute he made the lineup change. At that point, he either had to win or he was getting dismissed.
The reason I say that is because he was scrambling at that point because he refused to use the regular season to experiment with things. We should have had answers about the bench, about Mitch with the starters, about Deuce with the starters, etc... long before the Pacers forced his hand and he tried to get a whole season's worth of questions answered in 3 games.
The reason he got away with it was because the belief had to be that he had his reasons for not doing that earlier. The fact that he changed it up when desperate kind of undercut that.

Nah, Knicks make the finals, then Thibs stays. He got fired because it was a missed opportunity. We have to be honest. Knicks got through Boston. And then there was the Game 1.
Games 1 and 2. And 6.

i doubt the knicks hire any college coach. seeing if they can adapt is extremely risky.

I literally just jumped for joy in my driveway when i heard the news!!! This is a winning front office that won't settle for "Third Place". I've never been so proud of a Knicks front office. This is some real ish.

Damn. They need to give him a local scouting job or something. Let him hang out with John Starks and Larry Johnson.

KAT shot more than 100 3’s less than Randle
Thibs now has the record for playoff eliminations to a lower seed
Lack of offensive plans, running playbooks that he ran with the bulls, overcommitting to non shooters too many minutes like josh hart when he had lack of lineup tinkering thru the year
This wasn’t a roster problem, sure we had a LOT of bench problems, but we played the same way in October that we did in Game 6 of the ECF
It’s not lack of a team, its a ceiling that he placed on us
