I must be missing something if so many of you are so sure about how bad a draft it was. Please share b/c I didn’t do much prep for this year

Our biggest need was guard so everyone studied up on guards and we went for the player we thought was BPA. Also, people are mad because both picks are CAA. Concerning, but Toppin was probably BPA with Hayes and Okoro off the board. Not much else to see imo.

I'm thrilled they took the best talent at 8. They need talent more than a PG right now. A PG would have been perfect if he was the best talent. But once Ball and Hayes were taken that option was done.

**** the Pistons, btw.

I strongly believe if the Pistons would have taken someone else the Knicks would certainly have taken Toppin over Hayes with both available

I mean listen to this. I'm not taking any harsh Obi talk until he proves otherwise.

This is all a Knick fan should ask for!

they were about to trade away their whole draft for toppin, he mightve been the pick even if we were no.1

Probably. That would have pissed me off. So I get why people that had pet guard prospects are pissed off.

Dolan is completely incompetent in making any routine decisions regarding the team and either hires his friends/yes men or celebrities like Isiah and Phil Jackson to run the team.

The only respectable GM hired under his tenure (Walsh) was forced upon him by the commissioner (much like Anderson on the Wilpons) and then eventually left because he couldn’t deal with his meddling and douchebaggery.

it's really embarrassing. I was willing to give Leon the benefit of the doubt but every step of the way it's been CAA or Kentucky.

objectivity is an important role in team-building and thus far he's not shown that

I don't even mind Obi or Quickley but I do question the fit w/ Obi and I thought Quickley could have been had later. I would have liked to take a shot on RJ Hampton who reminds me of Zach LaVine

So your saying we should have the competitive advantage of having the head of the biggest agency in the world and the second coach on the biggest college program in the world and not use it? It doesn't make sense. I'm thrilled we went with CAA and Kentucky guys because we know more about them than any other team in the league.
I'm the first one to bash this team. But its enough, this time we used our connections to make informed decisions. I can live with that.

On a side note OBI is the best offensive player in the draft. He's on our team and a strong candidate for rookie of the year. We may not win much this year but its a great first step toward building a great young team.

ok, but not all CAA players are great, same goes for Kentucky

it is important for FO's to be objective and take the best talent available. not the best talent available that's friends w/ my friend

I like Obi. I just think next to Mitch we need more of a stretch-4 so it'll be interesting to see if his volume improves. He definitely needs to improve his defense

and Quickley I like too; 1 of the 5 best shooters in the draft IMO and I thought there was a good chance we'd get him....in the 2nd round tho. it was a bit of a reach w/ better players available (and I'm counting RJ Hampton because we passed on him to pickup a 2023 2nd rounder....we could've used the pick)

What makes you think Obi wont be better than Mitch? What is the gurantee we are resigning Mitch for the type of money he will be requesting. Center is the most replaceable position in the NBA. That's why Utah isn't even sure what they will do with Rudy. This team needed talent. We took the best player available and quite possibly the best offensive player in the draft.

In regards to Quickley, I'll say it again. If it was just Kentucky than we would have taken Hagans at 33. They know more about the kid than anyone else in the league. What he's really capable of. Am I positive he can play the point for us. Of course not. But Kenny Payne knows what he can do and obviously its worth rolling those dice over a bunch of very late 1st round guys that most likely will not pan out.

This is all we need to know about Obi. I love him all ready!

Honestly I believe Lamar Peters can easily beat Frank and DSJ out for a rotational spot.

They likely could have had Obi, Bane, and Quickley had they taken Bane at 25

I really want to see if Lonzo can be had... his fit would be great with this team if his outside shot keeps improving

No as a 2 way PG who will excell in a structured pick and roll set with 2 great roll men. Frank has the handle, vision, IQ and length to dominate on both ends of the floor. His offensive game took longer but he has been hard at work and looks to have a great deal of confidence now. He will surprise a lot of you this season.

We should give Obi teammate PG Jalen Crutcher a camp invite. Kid can play
