How desperate is Minny to shed the KAT contract? We have a glaring hole at the 5 spot right now. The Donovan trade with Cleveland didn't happen until September.

I just don't think keeping Randle is a good idea unless he is willing to work with us on his contract. But all indications seem to point to him wanting to get the bag.

I don't see a path to getting KAT without including Josh Hart. Randle + Mitch + Duce is still +/- $1.25MM short of completing the trade.

I do like the idea of having KAT at the 5 and mixing offense/defense with Precious or small ball at the 4. Under the old CBA, Randle + Mitch for KAT would have been a no brainer.

Randle + Hart + Mitch + Duce for Towns + Reid would be very interesting IMO

Brunson/Bridges/Anunoby/Reid/Towns
Kolek/DDV/Precious

The wolves would have:
Conley/Ant/McDaniels/Randle/Gobert
Dillingham/Duce/NAW/Hart/Robinson

Wolves improve their depth. Knicks balance out their roster.

Success

Randle has a 15% trade kicker which would take his salary to right around 34M. We wouldn't need Pacome in the deal.

I didn't think a trade kicker counts in terms of salary matching when structuring a trade.

I thought the team trading for him is just on the hook to pay the 15% out of their pocket

Not 100% sure so you could be right!

Looking at all the faces in the deal, I can see why everybody is against it. It is a steep price to pay. KAT is a fit regardless. I’d do it, no McBride though - Towns‘s contract is already a negative, so you don’t need d to add McBride imo.

I don't know what their draft pick situation is looking like but they'd def have to throw a few in that deal.

We might as well run trade checks for AD, because he'd be an even better fit than KAT. And, no, Lebron cannot come too

I’m not even saying he’s a fit here, but Curry becomes infinitely more legendary if he wins New York a championship. I’m not saying trade for him, but the news just surfaced on the wiretap of him imposing a deadline for his extension to be negotiated. Who knows how he feels about how they handled Klay… it’s a new GM too.

Lakers have Hayes and Wood as stretch 5 and looks like the Knicks need some big help after losing Hart. Also see that the Knicks have a glut at wing. If the Lakers gave either Hayes/Wood and fillers plus a SRP, what do you think Knicks could offer in return?

Thanks.

we’re closed for business thanks

I wouldn’t mind Wood. He’s a body who can provide some floor spacing, albeit not much in terms of rim protection. Wouldn’t give more than a low value 2nd for him though.

I don’t know, Davis has lost some of his dominance and it’s the size along with the shooting that makes Towns such a fit. No knock on Davis as he’s probably better overall, but I don’t think he’d be much better for us, if at all.

It’s only rightful if he really gets it done. But don’t get me wrong here… I love Brunson, he’s already done enough to be considered a Knicks all time great and curry is obviously never going to play in NY. I just thought he’d like NY too - it was just a random thought.
