And Orlando has ZERO assets, and can't even make a trade until a few days before the deadline when JRich can be traded again.

I can see him throwing one of the redundant wings in as well (Williams, Lee, Budinger). The Yao contract is also instant savings. But again, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone is on the block.

I'll put it like this....we have never been able to predict the pieces involved in one of his transactions. It's always stuff folks never considered (Alston for Lowry, getting Artest, getting rid of Ariza, getting Williams, Martin for T-Mac, etc). I stopped trying to guess what he is offering.

I wonder how much this deal is for and if it, in anyway, is going to help us in the melo chase.

Probably the minimum and it likely takes them completely out of it. Cuban said weeks ago that he wasn't going for Melo. Now they signed a guy that plays his position. -Jitpal

For whatever it's worth, our financial times buddy that reported Randolph was traded to Indy says that he jumped the gun. Basically Randolph told his friends he is getting traded to Indy by the end of the week. Huge grain of salt because this guy sounds like he comes out of the incarcerated bob school of sports news.

Some of my buddies are actually complaining that we have to sit through another 30+ days of this drama until the deadline. I rebutted with...think of the bright side it's gonna seem like nothing compared to if we gotta wait until the summer to sign him. Thats another SIX MONTHS away.

The only rental team I am remotely afraid of is Dallas because they could compete this year and win, which would make it tough on Melo to leave. Houston is going nowhere and there is no chance he resigns there.

Sooooooo Nuggets fans still believe that Melo was legitimately interested in the Nets. I can't make this stuff up

For what it's worth, I was just watching ESPN News and Chris Broussard said Melo only want the Knicks. Either before the trade deadline or he is willing to come as a free agent. Chris said all his sources as of today are saying the same thing, New York.

The Knicks being his first choice only matters to teams not willing to trade for him without an extension in place. What does NY being his first choice have to do with someone renting him for the remainder of the season? Yes it's risky but anyone that rents him is aware that he may not resign. Their hedge is being able to get something from having his bird rights.

I know Denver doesn't want to send him to the Knicks and all, but there's no way the Rockets give them a better offer for a rental than we could do.... And no, Landry Fields nor Gallo or Chandler are off the table for this deal, leverage or not.... if they want Fields Curry Walker a pick and Azub it's done... Perhaps I'd even through in Gallo or Chandler but that i'd have to think about.

Edit: Sorry, didn't mean to post the whole thing. Morey just says Rockets back in the game with Nets bowing out. If it's gotta be a rental then we will try.

You can try but you're honestly gonna be used for leverage more than likely to get the Knicks to ante up.

It will be interesting to see what market Houston sets as the rental price. I respect your GM so curious to see what he is willing to pony up because then he is taking the risk that he loses Melo for nothing this summer which is what Denver is trying to avoid.

That's the best sign that they know Melo wants nothing to do with the Nyets: They are starting this "You'll lose $40M" campaign to try to scare him stiff into submission.

$40M comes out to $10M per year over 4 years.

So Rudy Gay will make $18M and Melo will make $8M. I'll eat my left shoe without ketchup if anything remotely close to that ever occurs. They need to shut up, fast, before they ruin the last vestiges of their tattered credibility.
