No way. Carlisle is a HOF level coach. He’s not losing to a couple of cast-off second-rate coaches. Get real.

We needed a plan and options. The HC didn't have one and couldn't adjust when it was necessary. I didn't even expect Thibs to be fired but, let's not pretend he wasn't a big part of the problem.

That tweet from Berman the Vermin is him trying to stay relevant. He's a clown and a hack,

I absolutely believe with a healthy Mitch and a better coach this current roster COULD contend for a championship. Problem is Mitch is like a super duper injury risk. You aint winning with KAT/Brunson without the proper defensive pieces around them. That said, If I could get Kessler (or another elite defensive 5) instead and improve around the margins (i.e no real big fish needed).. I totally believe we could contend for a championship.

New optimized line-up:

Rotation (minutes)

C Kessler (28)/KAT (12)/ Huk (8)
PF KAT(20)/OG (18)/ Jabari (10)
SF OG(15)/Jabari (15)/ Hart (5)/MLE (13) - Oubre, Nance, Trent Jr
SG Divo (20)/ Hart (20)/ McBride (5)/MLE (3)
PG Brunson (34)/Divo (8) / McBride (6)

*Kessler offers more durability and more dynamic scoring at the C position than Robinson to complement KAT

*Jabari offers a defensively versatile big with more mobility to play vs the 5 out teams that spread the floor and play with Pace.

* Hart plays the more appropriate role off bench as high energy guy.

*Divo in theory if he comes back like NYK Divo is a infinite range shooter who really opens it up for Brunson. Those two played amazingly together in a season that was short circuited by an unprecedented level of injuries that piled up.

*The 14 non Brunson minutes generally will feature KAT on floor as #1 option. This will help stagger them and they would only share about 18-20 minutes on floor together. Minimizing the defensive liability when both are out there same time. Part of the 18-20 minutes they share will also have Kessler or Jabari out there to shield KAT defensively in the front court.

* Great depth and defensive versatility in the backcourt as well as front court.

I remember reading that the Rockets may have offered the Nets their picks back (2 picks and 2 swaps) for Mikal but that was with 2.5 years or more left on his contract when he was at his highest value. I'm not sure if they still value him as highly now in the final year of his deal but I can see them having interest in Mikal. Maybe you saw some other reports.

On Utah's side I know Ainge overvalues his players but the 2 future unprotected Suns picks, Daidiet, Kolek and the New York 2026 1st seems like a lot for Kessler in the last year of his rookie contract although i'm still not sure how you are trading the 2026 NY 1st legally.

For Minnesota I assume they would have to send out more money not to get hard capped at the 1st apron as it may mean they lose one of NAW or Reid or possibly both. If they aggregate salaries to send more money out they will be hard capped at the 2nd apron and may have to decide on if they want to bring both NAW and Reid back because it may be difficult to re-negotiate Reid's contract and fit NAW under the 2nd apron so it could essentially be trading DDV and NAW or Reid for Mitch. If Randle leaves it changes things.

For the Knicks you obviously get everything you want :D

Agreed. How we make that happen is the tough part. Can we trust Mitch to stay healthy. That is the gamble.

The bigger question is what the next HC wants to do. Does he want KAT at the 5 and play 5 out offense with someone besides Hart in the starting lineup? Does he want Mitch/another C next to KAT? Does he want to trade Mikal or OG? What does he want for the bench? Etc etc.

We will get these answers in the coming weeks. Then the conversations can be based in reality and not just having fun with the trade checker or guessing who the next HC will be. I hate the waiting!!

You could be right. Take out the Knick pick to Utah and change one of the Houston picks for a lesser one. If Houston gives up a slightly lesser package than proposed than it makes it even more likely they would agree to this trade.

On Minny not sure if we need to tweak the finances a bit but it could still be close to what is above.

I just saw that the Suns gave away KD for a bucket of balls and a half eaten package of oreos....not even basketballs but a bucket of range golf balls and not even good oreos but those watermelon ones that someone discarded because they're watermelon oreos.

if we could sign him for the taxpayer ML, assuming he's bought out, that'd be a great get. other teams will assumably offer more, but maybe he's tryna ring chase and change the narrative around his career
