Melo stop with the mixed signals. First you say you feel terrible and don't want him in any trade and now you are saying OH WELL LOL DATS BUSINESS

The use of the word "stuff" is telling.

Yeah but again this puts pressure on Melo to make a move. Otherwise he'll have Billups up his azz asking how he got tied up in MELO's mess...

Ok does anyone know what Melo is saying

this quote is sort of disturbing

"I got a game tomorrow against Phoenix. So if I go out there tomorrow thinking about the New Jersey Nets that will disrespectful to myself. That would be disrespectful to this organization and to the fans out there.’’

What do you take of that

But if his buddy got dragged into an uncomfortable situation because of the team's strong-arm tactics, I wouldn't think that would motivate him to do what they want.

Forget about all the news. Look at his body language. He wants no part of NJ no matter how hard Denver is working. They're just out to make him look like an ass.

Not at all. Not at all. Not at all.Not at all. Not at all. Not at all. Just not at all.

amare got 5/100

melo would want his 18mil option + 3/65 picked up or 4/83

so under the current cba and overall $$s per year it's close to a wash

but obviously if he gets injured or something between then and now.....

If he gets injured this season (to the point where it would matter money wise down the road) all he would have is the $18.5 million year for next year (which he would get simply by not opting out). The extension isn't a player option. It's a mutual option and Denver wouldn't logically agree to it if he suffers a career damning injury.

these are the most interesting back to back quotes to me

Melo was asked what he would say if presented with going to NJ: "After that meeting, I'll let you know how the meeting went.''

Melo was asked why he thinks there will be no trade this week "That's just my feeling. I don't think so. I don't want to elaborate on that.'

if there's a chance he would extend why does he say he doesn't think he'll be traded this week

What do you take of that

New Jersey Nets = "that ain't New York"
Remember....Lebron went against his representation as well.
And they are for all intents, his closest friends.
He wants NYC. He sees the finish line. I am hopeful he won't let us down.

#%@#$#

i wrote it 5 pages back arleady

this to me means that Melo is open to going to NJ, but wont go there if the team is gutted. Trading away harris, favors, 2-5 picks is gutting that team.

Acknowledged, but I'm led to believe he is mathematically losing money in a 5-year max deal with us outside of the possibility of injury in the next few months.

And if his motivation was to protect himself in the event of injury, you'd think he'd have signed by now.

Let's face facts, if melo ends up in nj it is a huge blow to the knicks. I still like this team but I don't see anything in the near future that can upgrade this team to compete with miami. We need that second star to have a chance at the title, and at miami. Not only do the knicks lose, but melo loses as well as he will be in a similar situation in denver, as nj will still be a team that isn't a title contender and an aging team as well with the trade. He will be wasting his prime years, and I believe he will realize that when he is getting spank by title contenders. I don't blame him for getting his money, but he will be stuck in mediocrity and it's sad cause he could be much greater than that.

If Melo is serious about NJ just because of the money (concerns) then I would doubt he'd care two bits about Billups ultimately. However, if he is the type that would really care about Billups then the chances are good that he likely won't be driven by money (which, tbh, is THE only weapon the Nugs and Nets have over him).

One thing that I think is interesting is that he keeps saying that he needs to talk to Denver management. Isn't that normally what agents do? I am now convinced Melo is not in synch with his agents.

I don't find it disturbing. He's using the team name and kind of dismissing it.

His agents are essentially working for the Nets.

Hard to tell since no one knows what the new CBA will be in terms of hurting what he can get, but under the current CBA, no Carmelo would not be losing money per year (at least not anything more maybe than pocket change relatively speaking) if he were to sign a 5-year FA contract vs. taking that 3 year extension (making it a 4-year deal). I did a recap some time back of what he'd make as a FA under current CBA guidelines and it really wasn't any different for the next 4 years than what he'd make as a outright signing FA in those same 4 years (of the 5 year new contract). Were the CBA not expiring, I think Anthony would just let the season run out and sign with the Knicks.

Return to New York Knicks
