Re: College Thread AKA Prospect Watch
Kentucky has been tested before this season but this game is gonna really show me what Stein, Towns & the rest of that platoon rag-tag group of players are made of.
Alabama is 2-1 at home against #1 teams all-time.
This should be fun.

that 15 foot jumper was gross
love towns game. He really effects it without scoring. I love that about him. Once he polishes that offensive game no telling how good he can be.

Very ugly & glad to see another big fan of Towns.
The amount of potential Towns has really got me paying attention to all the little things he does on the court. The way he catches the ball in paint, waits to see if a second defender comes to double him then passes it out, or him getting the ball & dumping it clean to Stein in the paint for a assist or just the way he boxes out & has a feel for directing traffic on offense is fantastic.
Just think if he was a bigger focus on Kentucky, good lawd. Consensus #1 pick without a doubt.

Not really interested in "the little things" being the hallmark of my top 4 pick's game.

the little things impress me as well. His feel for the game and skill set for a big is really impressive. Just something as simple as a bad shot by the opponent and the rebound comes off weird he is position with a great box out and snatches it to start a fast break. I love his hands, really strong catching the ball in the post and snatching rebounds.
problem i see with a lot of bigs is they lack the fundamentals but still can dominate because of there size in college. His game seems like it will translate well because he is just fundamentally sound. His FT shooting impresses me too, that usually will translate to a really solid jump shot. Good shooting touch. Could even develop in the a 3 point shooter or deep twos in the league, to really help spacing.

to go along with really good defense, rebounding, passing and shooting?
ill take that everyday of the week. It's exactly what the knicks have been missing. 2 way bigs.

Well little things aren't his hallmark but if that's what you take away from my post do you my man.
I'll take discipline & structure anyday especially with all the me-first players we have on this team & lack of intangibles on this squad for the past 5-6 years. We've lacked a true two-way big for so long and he's shining bright as a potential option, I love the kid's game.

Yes!
He holds his position on defense as well and I say that by meaning the way he puts himself in a way to either defend the post or the perimeter. Really surprised at how good he is at switching onto other defenders.
He has fundamentals AND IQ, you know how hard that is for so many players to learn yet it's so easy to obtain if you just apply yourself? He has versatility on offense & defense with the ability to add some toughness & strength in the low post. He doesn't play well because of dominating his opposition he plays well because he plays smart. Like you said way too many guys in College just out-muscle their way and that won't work in the NBA with grown men & pro defenses swarming on you praying you try to power your way in the post.

I actually do like the site, they''re definitely not the greatest with comparisons but their strengths & weaknesses compositions usually are on point.
SHUT UP BREEZY.
Towns' "little thing" skill set is ON TOP of his offensive arsenal and defensive abilities. It's a nice addition.

But yea it's always nice to see the rarity in a player having a good all-around game.

You're right.
Duncan never even SNIFFED 67% shooting in his college career.
Didn't even sniff it and that's what Jahlil Okafor is shooting as a 19 Year Old in Division 1 basketball.
You're attempting to outsmart this by accounting for nuance and other intangibles that you think might give Towns an edge over Okafor, but nah...it's really not that complex. The kid is averaging 19 and 10 in the 3rd best league in the world. He's DOMINATING.
Towns is a kid with a TON of development left, while Okafor is more of a finished product, while also having plenty of room to improve.
If we get #1...the choice is very simple.

Okafor will not be close to Duncan.
Hes going to be a solid player in the league, but scouts across the board say his defense, mainly his help defense, is questionable. Can he improve his defense? Sure. But I dont ever see him being a game changer on the defensive end.

I don't think Towns has "a ton of development" left. Do I think he can come in and dominate / score the way Okafor can? No, but I think he can affect the game in a plethora of ways from day one (score, pass, defend, hustle, etc) and continue to get better day in day out. I think people are really underestimating Towns' skill level.

*Yawn*
You are clearly out of your mind if you think comparing Duncan to Okafor is a smart idea, you did the same nonsense by saying Montrezl Harrell is the "best player available" and you're doing the same here. You need to learn how to evaluate better & stop overrating players so much.
Not gonna respond to the rest of your post because it's just a pissing contest between Towns & Okafor and I really don't care for it.
