Proven in what way? I already said yesterday that a 4 team deal would destroy the deal set in place wit BKN & HOU. Doesn't mean it still may not go down that way. Proven would mean Melo got traded and I was completely off. Not that I really give 2 **** about my credibility - I just found these forums and was trying to help out and be a part.

Where did the "lets not tank" mentality get us last year? We didn't tank and won games and got us arguing if Frank was even a good pick. If we tanked like we should've we probably could've had Fox or Jackson or maybe Tatum right now.

Don't start getting sentimental. Carmelo definitely has my respect as a Knick but any real fan will know he did not do his best to bring a championship to NY. Whether it be buying into coaches systems, using his excellent passing ability to it's actual potential, playing defense, trying to create a true team environment ... He failed us. The way I see things is that Houston is looking to do two things as part of this deal... get Melo AND unload Anderson. Obviously, the Anderson contract is a necessity to include to make the money work in any deal. Before the Melo talks, the asking price for teams to take Anderson was two 1sts, so the cost to get Melo AND unload Anderson has to be really high, even with Melo's diminished value. Because the Rockets really don't have ANY meaningful assets after the Paul trade, I have to assume that both picks (20 and 22) and a 21 pick swap are on the table.

I assume that if the trade were the picks and expirings (even those expiring in two years), this deal would be done in a straight up deal. However, I am assuming we balked at taking Anderson even to get those two picks. So now, these extra teams are involved to try ad find someone that finds taking Anderson less odious than we do (the Blazers are the obvious candidate because they have so many 3-year deals to medicore players.

With Portland, if they are willing to trade Harkless and take Anderson, that is really unfair. So what are they getting? I have to assume they want to get rid of Crabbe or Turner, who maybe are more attractive than Anderson to someone (the 4th team?). So then you have Harkless + Crabbe/Turner for Anderson.... does that work for them to get the salary relief or do they want some kind of asset in addition? Do they want one of Houston's two picks, now making our deal look worse.

Now we need a 4th team, someone who potentially is willing to take Crabbe or Turner (but wouldn't take Anderson), might be willing to send out an asset that we want (all of a sudden, our return isn't as good because Portland is grabbing one of Houston's picks or some other asset), but is going to want real assets to do this (one of Houston's picks, someone's expirings, some other player).

It's so damn complicated. Why? Go back to the beginning... Houston is looking to get the best player and dump the worst contract in all these discussions, but have really minimal assets after the Paul trade. Doesn't make them a good trade partner. Houston is trying to satisfy the contrasting needs of three teams and somehow create value out of thin air. It is no surprise this is taking forever.

If they had Beverley now this trade would be easier.

Portland also sends this years #26 pick to Cavs.
Knicks send Melo to Cavs
Cavs send K.Love to Portland.

We get Crabbe and Harkless. Their contract doesnt seem good but they re young. We also get #10 pick. Good defensive big men along Kp.

Cavs recieve Melo and #26 pick for K.Love. Slight loss on this trade.

Portland gets 3rd star along Lillard-Mccolum. And they send some big contracts away. They lose this years picks but that should be ok for them. It lets them compete at high level.

My take....Bledsoe can get you more than Anthony can in a trade. If Mills somehow manages to get Bledsoe for Anthony (in a 4 team) he can basically reset himself and have a better trade asset (at worst). At best, you (finally) get a healthy Bledsoe who is not only a shot creator but defends, rebounds and is an alpha.

As far as Bledsoe blowing a tank? I think you are giving the Knicks team all around more credit than maybe they should deserve. Phoenix with also a marginally talented and overall ill balanced team had a worst record than us. With Bledsoe you can probably afford to have Ntilikina play major minutes as he can play off the ball some and not have to have the pressure of having to run an offense or create shots.

From a publications standpoint, I'm sure Houston would love to have it wrapped up in time to introduce Melo with CP3.

I still feel this will drag until late July to early August. I think Knicks like this Zhou Qi guy and he is restricted from trade until August 5th. Maybe they agree on a deal before and then make it official on August 5th.

The other name being mentioned as PG's we're looking at to trade for is R.Sessions who will be a much cheaper player and easier to get then Bledsoe so it's not just Bledsoe we're going for. I have to think it would be C.Lee that we're offering up to teams if we can't get a vet PG in this Melo trade.
