I rather give up RJ and less unprotected picks save as many Knicks future picks RJ is not worth it.

Totally agree... it just seems like it's past the point of no return right now. Almost inevitable.

As I sat back and thought about this... I wonder was it Leon's goal all along to get both Brunson & Mitchell to pair with Randle. Why else take Randle along with during the playoffs. Why else trade out of the first round? It just all makes sense looking back... now how he knew he would even have the opportunity is beyond me but I'm truly looking forward to a legit backcourt. Something we haven't had since the Houston/Sprewell days.

THIS!

I don't know what Leon's goal may have been all along, but I always laugh when posters criticize a move by the front office just because it doesn't make sense TO THEM at the time. Chess is about thinking several moves in advance. It's very possible the FO has a plan that they're implementing one piece at a time. It's still funny though how some fans actually expect trades/drafts to be made in public and for them to know every detail every step of the way.

No way they planned ahead for DM. They didn't even plan ahead for Brunson who they wanted a year ago.

They had a terrible summer last year and it cost them to erase it. They handled this summer completely different as a result it seems. Like a different FO entirely.

DM fell into their lap if they get him.

The guys they signed last year, they didn't envision to have bad years. They really thought Randle, Noel and Fournier's contracts were gonna be tradeable assets which is why they didn't care so much about using up the cap.

After his All NBA year, the FO thought Randle's contract was a bargain. The mistake was signing players to more than a year.

I agree though. The Jazz are running out of shakedown options. They'll take the Knicks' deal soon. They don't want to risk Grimes or Obi going off early in the season and then have to lose more capital to include them.

I'm convinced the trade will happen because Danny can't afford to keep DM (with a new coach) and still tank. Leon is right to just wait it out and let Ainge kick and scream that he wants his way. Eventually (as in soon), the deal will get done.

Well...they didn't plan ahead properly. They made bad decisions all around last year. Now we are to believe Brunson and DM were the plan all along? No. They could have planned for Brunson by not signing long term deals for that roster. They didn't. There was no way they thought DM would be an option this year when they made those deals either. Maybe they hoped someone became available but, I doubt they knew who it would be. The Jazz we're a playoff team that had hopes to contend at the time.

They didn't expect RJ cult to mentally break Randle down so much or Kemba playing like trash.

Leon trying to hold onto picks because he wants to attach one to Randle to get him out of here. Sauces.

That's a substantially bigger offer than what's reported that's on the table for the Jazz.

There is more to it that that though. Randle's post-season humiliation after having a great regular season was unprecedented. He was so atrocious vs. ATL that the only sage move would have been to let him play out his one remaining year under contract to see if it was an anomaly. It was not. He was bad the following season. So no rationale makes up for this poor judgment.

Still, this FO is still better than past ones in spite of that pretty bad mistake.

True. He's not Nuggets Melo. He's a more useful player to build a team around.

Rose/Cam/Grimes/Duece
23+25 NYK unprotected
WAS/DET/DAL FRPs

3 young prospects. 2 expiring in Cam/Rose. Enough picks to make noise in the draft. Fair trade.

TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!!

Yes, Melo would have been a fine role player to add to a contender
